Horsetan
Going great guns there. On current build speed, you'll probably have completed the whole thing by Tuesday.....
B15nac
Well I've not done anything on it this weekend as I've had to do other things unfortunately an I'm now waiting for new axles also. So next will be work on the boiler I think. Cheers Neil
B15nac
Not done much today just added sand pipes an painted the frames then fixed them to the body just to see if all lines up as it should.

B15nac
Hi some more pictures this time with all wheels temporally fitted. I'm starting to think about liveries an was wondering what colour the cab should be inside? Was it green, black or cream?

Mike 84C
Am enjoying your build and to such a high standard. I fired one or two 47"s as a young fireman in the 60"s and I seem to remember the cab was painted green inside same as the livery. mike

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted September 9, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 9, 2014 He's going at a fair old speed as well! Yes, and at this rate I reckon he'll be finished before simultaneous announcements of r-t-r versions from 3 or 4 different manufacturers. But I doubt any of theirs will look as good as this one. B15nac
Thanks for all your kind comments. I'm really enjoying this build I fitted all crank pins an connecting rods yesterday an it runs by hand nice an smooth with no binding an with no need to open the holes out on the rods! it's a really well designed kit. Motor an gearbox next.. Regards Neil

Gordon A
Why is there a section of the boiler barrel missing in front of the firebox? Do PDK provide a filler section? What is the distance between opposing inside faces of the splashers? Gordon A Bristol
Horsetan
Why is there a section of the boiler barrel missing in front of the firebox? Do PDK provide a filler section? It's meant to cater for those who want to mount their motors in different positions, and no, there's no filler section. When I found a similar gap on their Peppercorn A2 kit, I went off and rolled my own boiler barrel from n/s sheet.
B15nac
It comes with a white metal section that fits in the boiler at the bottom but I've cut mind so I can fit a nice big motor an flywheel in side. Cheers Neil
