black and decker boy
Manchester last night for a concert so Joey Holts finest for a pre-gig loosener, this is mild. The best bitter was also very nice.

RMweb Premium MarkC Posted August 31, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 31, 2023 Had a walk to the top of Roseberry Topping today, and stopped for well-earned beer & food at a pub at the bottom afterwards.(The King's Head in Newton-under-Roseberry). Food was great, as was this brew. Love the name too... Mark
rockershovel
Out for lunch to wet my new grand-daughters head, let SiL get a round and should have known better. Asked for a Pink Gin and received a HUGE balloon containing enough ice for all of us and what might best be described as a fruit alco-pop. Rather disgusting but not really the time or place... Stopped at Tesco on the way back, bought some own-brand gin, 35cl for £6.80. Currently soothing my outraged palate with g&t with proper bitters and slice of lemon over 2 ice cubes while cooking dinner.... not bad at the price Edited September 3, 2023 by rockershovel
Black 5 Bear
Cameron's Strongarm is my tipple for this evening. A very tasty red ale from Middlesbrough, coming in at a not too unreasonable 4.3% ABV. Recommended!

Strongarm Red has been brewed since 1955 at the Lion Brewery according to the official website. Nice beer! 🍻🍻 Edited September 5, 2023 by Black 5 Bear

Gin of whatever flavour is discusting, much prefer a decent Ale or a strong Vodka with a bit of ice.

I drank quite a lot of vodka during my wanderings in the FSU... but I find it is best drunk in the Russian style, chilled in a chilled glass. Ice just dilutes it, but cranberry juice as a side goes very well. I've gone off it a bit now, though. Gin is the perfect hot-weather drink, that or cider.

That brew looks rather good and is making me thirsty but must resist as its the Bermondsey beer mile for us tomorrow.

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted October 7, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 7, 2023 ICE !? Fine for that Jack Daniels stuff or other colonial muck but really not for single malt. Ice dulls the smell and the taste of a good malt. If you feel the need, a little spring water is better. Avoid tap water with it's additives. tigerburnie
I no longer drink beer as I seem to have gained some sort of allergy to the stuff, but luckily not cider or whisky. If you can find it I had some "leg wobbler" from the Weymouth cider makers. Sandford's do some delicious stuff too.
black and decker boy
Back on a business trip, overnight in the people’s Yorkshire Republic of Wakefield tonight. ticking off the real ale, final stop is ‘The Hop’ an Ossett pub. this is deceptive at 5%, silky smooth and moreish even better given it’s a touch Baltic out, is this
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted November 30, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 30, 2023 Its a while since we have been in Hop as its often very busy of a weekend so we tend to go in to Harrys bar. The Red Shed is another favourite.
