RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted October 9, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) An all time favourite on at the Tap tonight.... image.jpg Been a few years since I had a pint or several of Strongarm which was in the pub at Goathland during an evening organized by the York show team, if I remember correctly it snowed on the way back to York Edit for clumsy fingers on the tab. The Lurker
Last night I drank some Theakston's Green Hop Ale, which I'd never come across before. I assume it's part of the major brewers' response to the craft ale movement, as citrus was mentioned on the tap badge. It went down well!

Torr Giffard LSWR 1951-71
Mornin' all, Having a run on continental beers just now....Westmalle by Dubbel is a 7% trappist variety....nice!! Torpedo by Sierra Nevada is a tasty 7.2% IPA from the States....equally impressive! Having the Belgian bar in town as well as a decent Joules pub means that they do have some competition though. RMweb Premium Torper Posted October 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2015 I went to the first Angus Brewfest in Forfar at the weekend. Apart from the beers, there were three locally produced gins (and no, none of them were Gordons even though that's produced just across the Tay in Fife) and a locally produced vodka. There wasn't a huge selection of beers, but quite enough for me, and there was cider from Thistly Cross and Cairn o' Mohr. The mighty Brewdog was there and I tried some Candy Kaiser - not at all bad but a little too malty for my taste. Otherwise, all the beers came from small producers in Angus or Fife. Eden Mill come from St Andrews and produce gin as well as beer. I was only interested in the latter and sampled some of their Shipwreck IPA, very nice but can't have too many of them at 6.2%. Next door to them was Kirrie Ales, brewed in an 8' x 9' shed in a back garden in Kirriemuir. I tried some of their Thrums Best and Fruity Wee Blonde, and both were very quaffable indeed - I meant to pick up a few bottles of the latter but of course forgot. Then on to Mòr Brewing's stand. They're from Kellas, just north of Dundee. Anyway, I tried a couple from them, Mòr Scode and Mòr Ish, and both went down very well. Then I was dragged off home, which was probably just as well. The event was sold out and it was good to see these small and micro breweries springing up in what used to be a real ale desert. DT
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted October 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2015 Tonight's BeerBods bottle is Mud City Stout from Sadlers Ales in Stourbridge. Very nice indeed and makes a nice change after a few weeks of IPAs and a lager or two.
AndrewC
Tonight saw the opening of Hop Stuff's taproom in Woolwich. 8 casks, 10 kegs, and a good bottle selection. Three guesses where I spent this evening.

bike2steam
Having just come home after an enjoyable weeks break on an Adriatic island off the town of Dubrovnik in Croatia, I couldn't go without trying some of the 'dark beers' (Porter) that Croatia is noted for. Rated at 7.3% with a taste similar to a smoother version of Adnams 'Broadside', this was my favourite;-

andyram
The sight of the Everards Sunchaser has brought back some unpleasant memories. Only ever had it once....never, ever again. A dreadful pint. My uncle visited a Yorkshire establishment a few weeks ago and tried Bateman's Mocha. He said it was an acquired taste, but worth a try. Saw a bottle in our local Asda and, with no Old Peculiar or Hobgoblin present, I decided to give it a whirl as a different dark ale. Definitely is an acquired taste with rich chocolate and coffee taste and smell. But at 6% it helped ease the stresses of a horrid day at work. Definitely would have it again. RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted November 5, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Had a visit last week from Brett and Andy G from the Wild Beer Co at Evercreech (or Westcombe to be exact). They were collecting a few crates of black grape marc which they will steep in one of their beers. Should be interesting! By way of reward they brought down a case of their "Fresh" an American-style IPA which is very good. I can't vouch for how American it is but Brett should know as he is from California. Also a bottle each of three of their more specialist beers (one is named after a Sumatran goddess), some of which may well get tasted over the coming weekend. Edit: See below. Sumerian not Sumatran. I blame Brett's Californian accent (or it may have been Andy's Scottish) but probably just my duff hearing. RMweb Premium JZ Posted November 6, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 6, 2015 From a couple of weeks back. Not usually a lager drinker, but this was draught and fairly local. The bottles choice was Brew Dog. Tonight's BeerBods bottle is Mud City Stout from Sadlers Ales in Stourbridge.2015-10-22_09-18-38.jpgVery nice indeed and makes a nice change after a few weeks of IPAs and a lager or two. Good to see a fellow BeerBod on here. Have to agree on this, very nice.
