Judge Dread
They would have looked rather nice in BR black. Doncaster built these not Dagenham. Hurry up Dave please, I cannot wait any longer but I suppose I must.
stewartingram
Didn't realise Grand Central had any, it will look better with the orange stripe. Very nice. Stewart
No Decorum
The springs on the bogies look helical, as on the Westerns, rather than the usual solid mouldings. It looks pretty good.
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted March 16, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 16, 2016 ooooorrghhhh lookit the bogie detail!
RMweb Premium John Isherwood Posted March 16, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 16, 2016 They would have looked rather nice in BR black. Just imagine it with silver bogies, raised chrome bodyside strip and numbers, plus an early BR crest !! Regards, John Isherwood.
RMweb Premium amwells Posted March 16, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 16, 2016 Given previous discussion over the pantograph, that looks rather fine too

Please don’t do that! I was looking forward to the green.
phil gollin
. Now IF only there was a second plain green version at the launch.
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted March 16, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 16, 2016 ooooorrghhhh lookit the bogie detail! Not only that but DJ as his own man has parts which stay on the bogies whereas his previous employer currently has models where they fall off. That look the badgers nadgers. Now for my 74s - please!
msw2009
That looks absolutely superb - it really captures the feel of the original. The pantograph and bogies are both excellent. It'll sell like hot cakes when you shrink it down to N gauge.
Ceptic
Just imagine it with silver bogies, raised chrome bodyside strip and numbers, plus an early BR crest !! Regards, John Isherwood. I like your image John, but how about Photographic Grey ?. By this, I mean, I'm still not completely convinced (in black) by the cab-front to body-side curvature transition. Looking at Andy Y's / Kernows' photos, The near-side front corner looks to be 'ok', while the off-side front, and rear ends' look to be 'unattended to'. Still, Best to catch'it'early with this loco, Dave, is it not ? All the best, Frank.

RMweb Gold Phatbob Posted March 19, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) I was lucky enough to get to see and handle the EP in the flesh at Ally Pally (thanks Captain Kernow). Looks good and has a good weight to it too. There'll be no lack of traction! Edited March 19, 2016 by Phatbob
Ceptic
I'm confused. As you can see both ends, what corner is OK and what corners have remained the same? Dave. Hi Dave. It may be just an optical illusion, but, compare the two lower front corners in the overhead shot. Here's a tracing to illustrate.
DavidH
That looks to me like an illusion caused by the angle the model is photographed at. However, what is really needed to nail your question is a front-on photo, at the very least.
DJM Dave
Hi, Until i get the model back from Kernow later this week i cant get you the required picture, however, from the updated cad/cam all 4 'corners' were altered when it had the slight re-tool. I could show you the cad/cam but in all honest i'll wait and show you the model just to put all doubt at rest. Cheers Dave
dasatcopthorne
Hi Dave. It may be just an optical illusion, but, compare the two lower front corners in the overhead shot. Here's a tracing to illustrate. DJM Cl.71 Front end..png Hi Ceptic. From your sketch, I see what you mean but I'm afraid I don't agree wholely. I think your sketch misses the nuances of the curve and the light and dark shading. Take the overhead shot and explode the area of concern and a very different picture emerges. Anyway. Roll on more shots when available. Dave
Wolf27
I agree Dave, the angle that the picture is taken at is not directly central over the loco , angles and lighting are unforgiving and misleading. Cheers Shane
olivegreen
Many thanks for posting the photos, Andy and the same to DJM Dave for the work he and the team are doing on this model - I look forward to receiving mine! To those who are ... shall we say … 'interpreting' what the photos appear to show, do you really think that DJM Dave would have corrected one corner and not the other three?
Andy Y
Just taken some nice high resolution pics which I will post tomorrow. All four corners are the same.
Andy Y
As promised a fresh set of pics of the DJ Models Class 71. The revised corner taper should be evident in these.

Ceptic
Many thanks for these latest images Andy. It's always best to 'measure thrice, and cut once', is it not ? My concerns are now at rest. Cheers.
