RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 3, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2014 Hi all. I'm looking for liquid lead to add some weight to my locos but would rather not pay the inevitable large postage costs from international for a small amount. Any ideas where I could obtain it within nz?
PatB
Does Australia count as non-international? DCC Concepts in WA sell it and we are, at least, in the same hemisphere.
John M
You may be able to get lead shot through a gun store such as "Gun City" but may be more expensive than importing from overseas.
RMweb Premium Jol Wilkinson Posted June 3, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2014 Do not fix lead pellets in place with PVA. They interact over time, the lead "expands" and damage can result.
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 3, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2014 Thanks PatB. I'll check them out and see john. Will cyano be ok LNWR?
RMweb Premium Jol Wilkinson Posted June 3, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2014 Will cyano be ok LNWR? I don't know but I've only heard of of that problem with PVA. I use a two part epoxy resin (left over from my boat owning days) which is quite thin, especially when warmed. Jol
Black Sheep
Got a local air rifle club, they can't re-use the pellets from the range so might be a way of getting some cheaply
shortliner
Used wheel weights from your local tyre fitters may be worth looking into
