Good evening, David. It’s great to see you today, and I hope you are feeling a bit better.

That’s a delightful selection of photo’s at Olten in northern Switzerland, from the 6th August, 1988. C10289, of C5/6, 2958, is a superb three quarter front view of the locomotive.

Very best regards,

Rob.

Good evening, David. That is a fantastic selection of photo’s from around Hillmorton. J4479 of a Class 86, on an up express in June, 1975, is a particularly excellent composition of the train by your Dad.

Very best regards,

Rob.

J4361 isn't a cl.87 as it has a Stone-Faiveley pantograph - the 87s had cross-arm pantographs at this time

Not sure it’s an 86 either. It’s a long distance away but I can’t see any grills between the two cab door windows so more likely an 81 or 85 perhaps?

Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Carlisle in 1986, 1987 and 1990. J8888, of 08808, on motorail vans, in April, 1987, is a particularly excellent composition by your Dad.

The photo’s at Dry Doddington, on the ECML, are a superb selection. C4421, of 254017, on a down express in April, 1979, is a splendid photo’ of one of the iconic HST’s in original condition.

Very best regards,

Rob.

Good evening, David. That is delightful set of photo’s of North Wales, with one photo’ of the Great Orme Tramway and four on the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway. The last photo’ at Llanfair Caereinion, of Kerr Stuart, 12, Joan, on the 11th August, 1979, is a lovely portrait shot of the locomotive.

The black and white photo’s of Weekday Cross and Stanford on Soar are a most excellent selection. JVol4246, at Stanford on Soar, with class O4, 63798, on an up coal train, in c1952, being a superb composition of the train by your Dad.

Very best regards,

Rob.

Is that one of those "rubber band" drive DAF cars in J3719?

I know somebody who still owns one of those cars today!

Looks like the back end of a DAF 33!

Unusual Fact:  Due to the way the transmission is arranged, it is possible to reach the cars maximum speed (about 70mph) in reverse as well as forward...

I'm surprised you can still get the elastic bands!

There is apparently an Owners Club for them and he usually takes it to their Annual Rally - even if he's well over 80 now!

Presumably the Club is able to source spares and replacement parts when needed.

The mixture of liveries in "Pilmoor Class 46 D157 Bristol to Newcastle March 67 J788" could also find a home in the "Prototype for everything" thread!

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of Bridges of Newcastle. The first photo’ of a Class 101 and a Class 108, on a Middlesbrough to Newcastle service, in May, 1974 is a superb composition of the train crossing the bridge, and there is much to see lower down with the road and buildings.

The photo’s at Pilmoor are a superb set. C5969, of a Class 43 leading an HST, on an up express passenger train, in February, 1983, is a splendid shot the iconic train at what will have been 125 mph.

Very best regards,

Rob.

Some cars have a following.

Others...well, they just keep going.

It is now possible to purchase, brand new, a MkI, or MkII Escort.

Yes, newly made shells.

You then specify the engine, gearbox and suspension, and the interior trim level, from stripped out rally car to comfortable road car, and they do the rest.

Prices start at an eye watering £70k...

There are probably more Lotus Cortinas and RS2000/Mexico Escorts than were ever built originally!

The number of times you see a nice vanilla base model that could just be restored as is but no, they have to replace everything and make it into one of the sporty models🙄
