RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 15, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 15, 2023 Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s from the eastern side of the country. The first photo’ at Diss, with Class 47, 1537, on an up service, in August, 1972, is an excellent photo’ and captures perfectly the 47 as it accelerates the train and gives out a big plume of exhaust. The photo’s from around Rugby, in black and white, are a superb selection. JVol2119, of Class 5, 45391, on a passenger train from Peterboough to Rugby, in c1952, is a most impressive and well composed photo’ of the train. Thank you so much for taking the time to post these pictures! Now, why this one particularly? Well at work I've recently been doing some work on terminal over-run protection for light rail systems, and rather than re-invent the wheel I started by looking back throught the BR and TfL archives which each contained several reports on the subject. One of them described these tests briefly and gave the numerical results, but I had no idea what the foam buffer stop actually looked like. Now I know - Thank you! Please keep up the good work with the photos. Mol
