In J776, the class 47 is not a namer (I’d like to say it doesn’t have erstwhile GW paraphernalia like those odd lamp brackets but I can’t see - definitely no route classification spot below the number though!!). Could it be D1969 or D1996 or similar? It’s got a shed code at the bottom of the cab side. Beat me to it. I was going to raise a query on the same ID. D1669 was "PYTHON" and was named on 31st March 1966 at Old Oak Common.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 13, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 13, 2023 Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Switzerland on a damp day, the 2nd August, 1988, at Aarau, between Olten and Zürich. C10043, of Re4/4ii, 11123, on a westbound freight train, is a beautifully composed photo’ of the train. The photo’s of Chalton, Polesworth and Ravensthorpe are a delightful mixture. The last photo’, at Ravensthorpe, with Class 25, D7573, on an up parcels train, in August, 1967, is a superb photograph, which captures a typical parcels train of that time. With warmest regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted December 14, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2023 A particularly nice set of Southern pics, thankyou. The snow reminds me I was covering the SM at Ramsgate for a few weeks that Winter, which was a bit of a commute from my home in Strood. 4-Cor, and other Nelson pics, are inevitably rare among posters here, due to them disappearing more than 50 years ago. ISTR Railway World writing a eulogy at the time, which included the suggestion that they were piloted by a race of one-eyed, one-legged motormen, staring resolutely into the distance, with a parrot on one shoulder….. 2

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted December 14, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2023 Good evening David. That is a superb set of Southern photo’s. J021, at Billingshurst, of 4COR, 3150, on a Victoria to Bognor Regis, Butlins Holiday Camp Express, in September, 1962, is an absolute gem. I especially like that special headboard in pale blue. The photo’s from around North Wales are a fantastic selection. C26007, at Dolwyddelan, on the 23rd July, 2002, is an excellent photo’, which shows some good detail on that bridge over the railway. RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted December 14, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 14, 2023 C5696 - admittedly the DMUs are far away and slightly blurred, but the side windows are wrong for a Class 120. The guard’s area would be bigger. They look like Class 108s to me. 1
