That’s a great selection of photo’s of Connington CCE Tip, along with Newark and Muskham, on the ECML. C4420, of 254011, on an up express passenger service, at Connington CCE Tip, in April, 1979, is a superb photo’ of the iconic HST. The black and white photo’s the from the late 1940’s at Cambridge, are a superb set. The last photo’ of N7, 69672, on a Cambridge to Stratford service, in c1948, is a fantastic photo’ by your Dad, and the first carriage is an ex-NER clerestory roof design of three compartment BT. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 24, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2023 Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of trams at Crich in 1976 and 1977. C3405, of Manchester 765, in August, 1977, is a splendid portrait shot of the lovely tram. That’s a fascinating set of photo’s starting with two at Nottingham and three around Plumtree, on the Midland line from Nottingham to Melton Mowbray. The first photo’, at Nottingham, with 45143, on a light engine movement, in July, 1976, is an excellent photo’ and well captures the 45 in the typical Midland setting of the station. The cab door at the number two end is open. With warmest regards, Rob.

I think the signals visible are the junction signals for Starbeck North Junction; the one on the left which is pulled off is for the route towards Harrogate (the line which is still open) and the right hand one would have been for the curve towards Bilton Junction, joining the Harrogate-Ripon-Northallerton ("Leeds Northern') line there. The Leeds Northern closed to passengers in March 1967 but Starbeck to Ripon and Melmerby remained open freight only until 1969. As the gates are across the line, quite possibly the box was indeed switched out. Even if Harrogate-Northallerton was still open to passengers when the photo was taken, I doubt whether the Starbeck-Bilton Jn. curve had any passenger trains by then anyway. 2
