Many thanks, I hve to admit I'd forgotten the details of where it went and is now, all knew was that it wasn't Steamtown.

Good evening, David. That’s a superb set of photo’s of Harwich, and in C2779, of 08767, on the 12th June, 1976, you have taken a superb portrait shot.

The photo’s of Brinklow, Kilsby Tunnel and Wellingborough (LNWR), are an excellent selection. In the first photo’, at Brinklow, of the canal by the railway, in April, 1972, you have taken a well composed shot which shows some good detail of the canal and it’s surroundings.

The photo’s of Altstätten, in the north east of Switzerland, on the 5th August, 1990, are of great interest. In C14769, of Re4/4ii, 11385, on an Interlaken to St Gallen service, you have taken a delightful shot of the train.

Finally, the photo’s of Morpeth, in the 1980’s, are a splendid set. In C5187, of a Class 37, on an up coal train, working onto the Blyth and Tyne, in August, 1980, that’s an excellent photo’ of a train which is now long gone.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s of the ECML at and around Grantham. In C5067, at Grantham, with 254003, on a down express passenger train, in June, 1980, you have captured a superb and well composed shot of the HST.

The photo’s at Woodhead are an excellent set. In the first one of Class 77, EM2, 27000, Electra, on a Manchester to Marylebone service, in November, 1963, is a superb shot, and it can be seen that the second carriage is a teak bodied Gresley TSO.

What a truly amazing selection of black and white photo’s of B1’s and an O1 too, at Nottingham Victoria in the early 1950’s. In the last photo’ of B1, 61225, on empty coaching stock, and an O1, on a down goods train, c1952, your Dad has captured a delightful scene. It can be seen that the coal in the tender of the O1 is comprised of large amounts of slack.

Finally, the photo’s from around Harrogate are a splendid and nostalgic set. In J246, with a four car unit on a Manchester to Harrogate service, in August, 1965, the train is a hybrid one. It is a typical four car NE set, but the first coach is a class 108/1 DMCL, which will be substituting for a Metro Cammell DMCL. The rest are class 101 cars.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

What an interesting collection of street lights to the right of the picture in J3594 - all pointing in different directions!!!!! I wonder what was going on there?

One this side of the road, two on the other side, but the taller one a replacement for the shorter one, the latter yet to be removed, I'd guess.

Its probably because there are two skew bridges in close proximity, with a three way junction on the right, one road being the A607 to/from Melton Mowbray. These days it is a four way junction on the town side...

Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Quainton Road in November, 1976. In the first photo’ of Beattie Well Tank, 0314, you have taken a lovely photo’ of the locomotive.

The photo’s from around the Isle of Wight, are a fascinating selection. In C2145, at Ryde Pier, with 3TIS, 033 and 4VEC, 043, in June, 1975, you have captured a delightful scene of the station and train.

That’s a most excellent set of photo’s of Pilmoor, in the second half of the 1960’s. In the first one of Class 55, D9019, Royal Highland Fusilier, on the 12.00 Kings Cross to Newcastle, in February, 1967, it is a well composed shot which shows a Deltic at it’s best working an express train at high speed.

Finally, the photo’s of Seascale on the Cumbrian Coast line, Selby and Ollerton, are an excellent selection. In J474, at Selby, with a four car NE Class 104, on an ecs movement, in April, 1966, that’s a superb photo’, and it can be seen that the leading DMCL has recently been repainted. The running number is central under the first passenger window, unlike on the other three cars, and the cream lining under the windows does not rise up under the cab windscreens.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Interesting to see Quainton as it was everywhere you went there was a loco or coach awaiting restoration, unkindly  we called it the scrap yard only in jest but to see the site now you realise what a good job they have done. When you go there now it is to  site of excellence with many interesting objects .
