Hi, Dave. I like the set of photos of Swayfield from 1972 and 1973. As mentioned already the foggy one is remarkable, and quite eerie! I see there is an additional BFK, as the leading coach, in the last photo. I wonder if it was a positioning move?

With warmest regards,

Rob.

C4981 is a great shot. That viaduct was only in use for a few years (relative to the railway historically) as were quite a few of the infrastructure  installations for pits opened or modified in Notts (and elsewhere of course) in the 60s.

Something was happening in the late 50s and early 60s that was sometimes a little 'odd'. My favourite oddity was the brand new Roundhouse at Thornaby that was completed in 1958 I believe.

Interesting that the new ballast on the down slow stayed looking that way for a year. Something for us modellers to remember.

Though the down slow seems to have changed colour rather more in a year.

Probably not used by very many passenger trains, with their associated lavatory 'leavings'... :jester:

Hi, Dave. Excellent photo's of North Wales. I love that last one of Betws y Coed, it is very atmospheric. In C5696, the unit, on closer examination, is actually a Derby class 108, formed of two twin units.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

I somehow managed to miss this one off the Bluebell set this afternoon.

Perhaps I should drink less red wine with my Sunday lunch.

J1771: must have been a sale on at the Ford dealers, an Escort I think, a Cortina, a Zephyr or Zodiac and two Anglias in that shot.

I learned to drive in a MkIII Zodiac, had an Anglia as my first car and an Escort later on.

Hi, Dave. I love the Midland line photos in Yorkshire. The first one brings happy memories back, and such sights were just simply taken for granted back then. I wish we had taken just a little more notice of the railway, for so soon steam was gone!

With warmest regards,

Rob.
