Another weathered Alco, GLLX 850 a C420

Recommended Posts

I found an Atlas Iowa Interstate liveried C420 on eBay in Germany so decided to replicate this http://www.rgusrail.com/ingllx850.html . The loco started life as Lehigh and Hudson River 27 then to the Green Bay and Western as 323, it was then picked up by Iowa Interstate at the time of the WC take over of the GBW and numbered 850, kept faded GBW red but with the addition of the strip. After retirement from Iowa Interstate the history gets a bit sketchy, the Louisville New Albany and Croydon was listed as owner for a time before the loco went into private hands and it appeared on the Hoosier Valley Railroad museum . http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/LocoPicture.aspx?id=130666 these show the most recent photos. The GLLX reporting marks where loaned for a move by NS back in 2009 but appear to survive.

A couple of details to add, found a plow(plough) in the spares box along with a winter window and a firecracker antenna. The beacon is a bit more tricky as it's not a type that has been made as a detail part also different to the one fitted by the GBW, I might have something in my trucks bits box or just leave it off. I make my own antennas out of fine steel insulated wire . I will leave the ditch lights out as I haven't worked a way of wiring them and making the body easily removable. Next project VLIX 2064 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locopicture.aspx?id=57052 can't find a dynamic brake fitted model at the moment NW version might have to subsistute, You can never have to many Alcos !
