I will be involved with SHMRC doin this:

DURING THE SHOW, THE SOUTH HANTS MRC, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SCALEFOUR SOCIETY, WILL BE ATTEMPTING TO BUILD A LAYOUT

The layout is obviously P4 and is based on the L & Y station at Eastwood.

We will have Dave Hawkins P4 layout - Great Bardfield with us as well to give a ccomparison between start and finish.

See you all there

Dave

Just got back from the show, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty for me to see, plenty of stuff to buy, plenty to keep my little kids occupied and enough to stop the missus from getting bored.

As last year the location is excellent - a really good catering section with a varied menu and plenty of seating, easy parking in the car park or on the local roads once that was full.

In my write-up on RMweb I was quite critical of last year's show; I have to say that I thought the general quality of the layouts was much higher than last year. There was a good mix of action: a balance of roundy-roundy loads-o'-trains type layouts and more sparsely-timetabled layouts (which let's face it might be prototypical but don't always keep the non-enthusiasts and kids happy). The operators mostly seemed to be having fun and were all engaging with the punters.

It is only a minor criticism but I thought it was lacking one or two really star layouts (I'd have loved to have seen Ackthorpe there), however the general quality was so good that it made up for it. My only other concern is that it didn't seem to be as busy as previous shows - so I'd be a little concerned for the traders. That could have been the time that I went (Sunday lunchtime) as the catering hall was quite busy but the other halls not - makes for easy getting around and viewing for those who are there though!

All round, though, definitely worth the visit, a clear improvement on last year. A big thumbs up from me :icon_thumbsup2:
