Washout at Dawlish

Recommended Posts

Before 7am,  Bam Nuttal was on scene picking up timber torn off their site

where they were repairing the steps half way to Boat cove

just heard on Radio Devon,

that the beach cafe at Coryton Cove was damaged by fire early this morning

Please take care out there. We do not want to hear of an empty wheelchair or scooter being washed up. Those waves mean business, as we all know.....

What a difference a day  12 hours makes. I was just beginning to think that Dawlish was going to have a quiet summer weatherwise; nope!

No steam specials then or did someone say 'dispensation' for the Great Britain?

I am used to risk assesing automatically

after some of the occupations I have experienced

& ( beware of familiarity breeding contempt, in a safety context))

Just been down for photos of D1015. Chatted with the driver of the 'up' in the platform and it was an old school friend of many years ago, a Taunton driver, Mr Bond. What a surprise!

Just a few minutes ago I saw train 1Z15 on the Dawlish Beach webcam (http://www.dawlishbeach.com/live/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=18) - a maroon Western diesel hauling a 47 and mk 1 Pullman coaches, heading westbound. What a nice surprise for what was a random viewing of the camera!

:)

See post #3207 for what's due through this weekend: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/81949-washout-at-dawlish/page-129

Is anyone able to video capture 34046 Braunton going through Dawlish using the live cam? That's down and up on the same video? Just like Andy Y's post

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/81949-washout-at-dawlish/?p=1414042

By the way, there is plenty of charter train action this weekend, including some steam, passing Dawlish...

Sat 26/4

5Z83 1439 Exeter to St Blazey - 34046 Braunton and support coach - passes 15/37 -  in connection with 'Great Britain 7' tour

Sunday 27/4

1Z85 1003 Falmouth Docks to Bristol TM (Great Britain 7) - 34046, 5029, coaches & Class 47 - passes Dawlish at 14/13 **

** Weekend block of lines between Newton Abbot and Exeter from Sat night to Mon morning given up specially for these two services only

Thank you very much in advance.

Chris
