Washout at Dawlish

Recommended Posts

13.40

hot day is drying the infill,  this has obviously just arrived

Not seen a single lorry delivering

Not even on the road passing up top of Riviera Terrace Exeter road

but there is a pile of clean 3/4 chippings

with a lil biddy daffodil digger sitting on top

& a 3? ton dumper both standing idle

no drivers in sight, between the traffic lifghts!

Next time you are in Teignmouth and in search of a pasty I can recommend Carols Cupcake Bakery (obviously other bakers are available to sell other cup cakes). They are 2nd to none. Coming from a pasty connoiseur that is praise indeed.

Ok, I have tried one of their pasty's as I promised a few weeks ago.

Pasty's very good, but sorry to say let down by availability and higher than average price.

I had to call in for five days before I could obtain one, none for sale until last Friday.

Each visit was during the morning.

They did seem exactly the same as those available from Ryder's bakery in Dawlish Warren, same size, same filling, I would say they originated from the same supplier.

Only difference was that the ones in Teignmouth were £2.75, the ones in Ryder,s £2.00.

I am also a Pasty connoiseur and my working life tied up with fresh foods.

Keith.

Slightly off subject, watching the Dawlish beach cam, I noticed the FGW HSTs have at least two different First Class configurations - could anybody explain these please :)

FGW are converting one of the first class coaches into standard class.  There will now only be 1 x complete first class coach and the buffet coach will continue to have first class.

picture of digger sitting on top of a pile of 3/4" clean chippings

with dumper behind, I see it says 6 tonne on the side,

I imagine that to be its TOTAL gross weight not its load capacity?

photo taken at 12.15 still the same at 4 .15

so I imagine that was the filler for the trench

Sat in the road between the traffic lights on Exeter road, at the entrance to Riviera &  Sealawn Terrace

Good to see some trains in these webcam photos!

Hope you enjoyed your holiday, Keith?

I suspect the other webcam in Sea Lawn Terrace has been taken down by it's sponsor - the BBC?

Yes, thank-you Commodore, great time with the Grandsons [and wife and daughter].Plenty of trains and pastys :imsohappy:

Hi Keith

agree with the price, maybe thats the price to pay for living in Teignmouth.

Did you have a good week?

regards

LE
