Thanks. Never seen that pic before. Quite handy for Dairy detail too.

If anyone has a decent Highmuck for a reasonable price or horse trade I'd be grateful. Needs to be in livery suitable for pre '64 if possible.

Trendygloss (Spam's ex layout) thread is worth a quick visit. I think I might have 80041 from that lovely item?

Can I see the hint of a splasher - not sure the originals had splashers.

Oh, and to my eyes the cabside looks recessed where the number plate goes.

Specsavers for you matey and the take your place on the step, there are no look-a-like DJM carbuncles on that locomotive.

The Very Best, indeed ! ;)

For what she does she needs a large pair of bellows.

Well I never knew she was also an accountant...

You daft old bean you. She is a Book Keeper; you can tell from the handy book ends. She opened the Donny Show once and several attendees are still in ICU with really bad eyesight related problems.

Completely off topic.....

Here is the pre-cut ground plan for the station building.

I will be able to get two copies from the same ply sheet, one will be sent north to aid station planning, the other will be used as the actual base.

Pahh, that's small that is. What you want is a nice 7mm station building. Pukka

That'd look a bit daft as the rest is 4mm...

This station building is big because it's near, that station....

...and both bases are now cut.

Just to give an idea of size, I've put a 12"/30cm rule in the picture too.

Ooohhh, when that arrives I can go and wave my long thing around and test the clearances.

I am ashamed to admit that I found a Spam this morning and could not resist................another 72A Modified Pacific.

Maybe - if I can find them. (Hornby version but with scale wheels (not the sort of scale you find on fish that is).  Wonder where they are?

Are you saying he's made the entire layout too small?

If you take some binopeculiars and look carefully through them (in the loft) you can change the layout to 7mm or 2mm depending upon your mood. Still oinly needs 2 wires.

Well I caught up with the thread at just gone zzz o'clock last night! I popped back now to say hello properly, and found another new half page or so of the usual entertaining interjections and commentary. So, having read through those I have a few moments left (before the Countryfile weather starts) to do the hello.

I was first alerted to the wonders of the SOS thread a few months ago by a response from someone (a SOHF sufferer) to someone else (an enlightened poster) along the lines of "this is a serious thread on a serious forum; if you want to post stuff like that you belong on the SOS junction thread". "Well", I thought, "SOS Junction looks like it is worth investigating".

So for the last few months the spare moments waiting around have been filled with the delights of seeing a model railway take shape, and the chatting around which used to take place in the fun model railway clubs (or was that when I was too young to understand that model railways are SERIOUS?)

So having been a temporary employee a few years ago in Seaton itself, and being a bit interested in the LSWR/Southern/BR(S) (as you wish) (as well as a bit interested in the company to the west of the LSWR, but I won't mention them here at the moment), I also found the railway stuff to be interesting too.

I particularly like the commentaries on the various track, pointwork, and 00/EM/P4 threads. I have found that the 16.5mm track is perfect for modelling metre gauge in S scale, so I'm rather well up on the use of Pecoboo track (and latterly the old Wrenn fibre-based track) as well as building my own where the proprietary stuff just won't fit. Of course, the 'proper model railway or don't do it at all' brigade wouldn't give me a glance at any show because my efforts are all of forrin stuff. It entertains the families though.

So, I've enjoyed the thread, like the banter, and am learning the difference between the fun stuff and the nasties out there. I've also learnt that I shall have to watch SWMBO's prog tonight about the midwives, and not doze through it as per usual, or else I'm in danger of not 'getting' some of the more subtle comments and illustrations which fill in the minor pauses between modelling reports.

More power to your elbow Mr Duck! Oh, and careful with those frogs!

Thinking back to my earlier years, and belonging to a model railway club, I do recall even in those pre internet forum days there was a very clear split of modellers. Those that could only do deadly serious modelling, no fun allowed, and those that had a good laugh but still turned out good stuff.

Me, I enjoy a good bit of banter and lightheartedness. There's loads of heavy, serious, not very nice things in the world and a bit of humour goes a long way to improve matters.
