Notwithstanding the ludicrous idea of building a 22 mile bridge, has no-one considered how often if would be closed due to wind ?

https://www.windfinder.com/windstatistics/channel_lightship

It is quite simple, we build a 22 mile long wind brake (which the French can pay for).

Failing that all cars crossing will have a sail attached to save on polluting the white cliffs of Dover.

It's going to be a combined bridge and tunnel, perhaps we could call it a Brunel.

N Ginear

Wasn't he technically French? So it might be fitting to call this combined bridge and tunnel after him. Or Boris' stupid idea.

I am still waiting for the airport in the Thames estuary complete with its casinos and duty free shops. Will it have a motorway link to the Brunel?

Maybe the airport island could move to the middle of the Channel, with a bridge each way. Shipping could then use the island as a mini-roundabout.

I'm sure it will take no time at all to agree the new Franco-British system for roundabout priorities.  What could possibly go wrong?  :jester:

There is no (I hope the Captain is sat down for this), I repeat NO pudding menu. :swoon: :swoon: :swoon: :swoon:

I don't know where you are.

Where are you?

If you're worried about there being no pudding menu, you could have smuggled a Marathon bar inside, sewn into the lining of your jacket.

As Northroader posted the pic of the original Janus, I'll say no more (squire), but I do like the idea of some Hugh nameplates.

Ooh, look, there's some quite near me:

Tata for now.

Thanks for the link, but I still don't understand what's being alluded to here.

Sorry.

But come March 2019 the French cannot talk to us without their 26 buddies to back them up.

Mind you it would be fun with no taking a bit of notice of the French cop waving his arms and blowing whistle with a bit of good old British road rage thrown in.

I can see immediately that Boris's cunning plan, as shown by the artist's impression rendered here by our good friend Grunfos, is to create a large roundabout for all shipping traffic heading to Eueopr. DOubtlesss the six corridors leading from the roundabout will appear to go to French, Dutch and German ports, but with the tuning known only of English road planners actually curve back to end up at places like Southampton, Felixstowe and Thamesport.

Then, once we have all their goods suitably stored in secret warehouses in the UK, and they're all starving,  he'll sit down and invite them for some serious trade talks!

A cunning plan worthy of Baldrick himself!

On t'steam radio this morning I hear that it will be a tunnel bridge so that ships can sail swiftly without concern for having to avoid bits of stuff sticking out of the water as the 'middle' bit would actually be a tunnel.

I feel sure that it will become the entry point of choice for all medium-sized European popinjays, seeking asylum in Blackpool.

Thanks Cap'n

I was quite taken aback when I read the first line of the page on which I landed as it said :

"Let us hope that LLC has no plans for a Wizzo...  I seem to think that the Cl.52s did not have a solids retention tank."

and I thought the P4 people had a language all their own....

Looks very interesting and should go down well with the Dapol pannier on many a 0 gauge branch line.

I would be running mine with a Minerva pannier.

That's the big one about to have a Hymek jump over it, by the way.

The smaller one is smaller than the bigger one.

So the big one isn't going to be made by Dapol but is made by Minerva. Well the NBL type 2 baby warship will go well with that instead. :good:

I should stick to what I know.........That ain't very much. :resent:

I negotiated the Archy Trumpet just the once, many years ago, as a pedestrian. That explains a lot. I believe there are actually tunnels under the yellow bit(s) that one should use if walking.

I like France. I think their Revoloutions are entertaining, except for one which was very miserable.
