RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted October 14, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2017 (edited) My dear SWMBOAAT is an O.T. (now retired) and so I have advice on how to get in and out of the loft when my legs finally stop working. I'm also OK if I have a Stroke as she was a Stroke and Brain Injury Team specialist. I count myself damn lucky. Phinkimokmostly Edited October 14, 2017 by Mallard60022
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted October 14, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2017 Safety in retirement as you are both capable of dealing with 'situations'. Excellent. Philth No, last time I was poorly I could hear her on the phone, " Is that the Co-op?" pause "he is 5 ft 8ins" pause "14 1/2 stone" pause "not to sure how wide across the shoulder, I just go and measure him".

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted October 14, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2017 (edited) Quite a nursey direction this thread has taken. My dear old Mum was a nurse. I well remember her sticking my 11yr old finger back together after a particulary violent encounter with a 1/32nd scale member of the 8th Army. She will be gone six years next Wednesday...... Rob. RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 14, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2017 Sherry’s mum was a nurse, as was her late sister - struck off for alcoholism. Sherry’s ex-sil was a nurse, who chose to train at Yeovil rather than a London hospital, which her educational achievements would have enabled. Sherry’s cousin is a Sister, quailified to dispense medicines, as well as being an ordained minister of the Cof E. As she said to me - if she gets the meds wrong, at least she can give them the last rites!
timbowilts
Well I’m married to an ex-nurse who started in geriatric nursing, moved to working on a stroke unit (via a spell as a school nurse!) and finished her nursing career in a hospice. That should fit her up to care for me adequately in my pending retirement Tim T

You can get the DVD box set, I don't think it'll ever be on TV, more because of the homophobia than the casual racism... ar$e (I had put it in the trolley when I saw it in Sainsburys but it was removed and left in the bread aisle... Just Asking for a friend you understand Exeter.JPG Is it the Sanda Kan one or the later production? I haven't yet run my SK one, but apparently there were build quality issues with some. Not so the later one. Edit: the SK one correctly doesn't have the AWS battery box on the front buffer beam. RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted October 14, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2017 Talking of gear trains, I almost unboxed my failed machine '45 this afternoon but didn't quite make it. I did check that the replacement gear set is in the envelope; it is. I really should take the plunge and take it to bits.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted October 14, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2017 I went in my loft today to play/test the pulling weight of the train of clay hoods. Need more, I think, but the Baccy 25 handled them no problem.

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted October 14, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2017 OOh. I used to recruit nurses....then Doctors.....then went mad (aka into NHS management.) I'm better now. Recruiting nurses was OK, recruiting doctors was a complete nightmare. About 10% of them were the people you expected and wanted them to be (as someone you may meet on a table - operation for the use of) and with respect to any here, the other 90% were arrogant a$$holes who had forgotten patients are people too. and they're probably frightened out of their lives. Back off topic, I have one of the recent Exeters, that will become City of Wells (and I don't care of it is correct or not either, but it is the configuration I like!). It runs fine, no issues at all.

I have no idea why I'm suggesting this as I was going to redo the Wells versions as 34070 and/or one of the others that retained the Raved tender (e.g. 34072 or '78). As I like the High sided tender. I was having a look at some of the Hornby WC's that are more recent, but if these are just as good then I'm always happy to save some $. I want one because My Dad used to rave on about light Pacifics, him being a Dorset lad an all (I know Exeter is in Devon but he did spend a bit of time over that way). I think He'd be blown away by the quality and detail on the newer RTR stuff.
