cal.n
The layout ran remarkably well, with only a few meltdowns due to there being too many locos (and sounds) running, and due to shorts caused by operators lacking concentration...we were all guilty from time to time! I was concentrating, I’m just not very good at it. I’m still having nightmares about those double slips..... Seriously the layout performed great as ever and the compliments where flowing in. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted January 24, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2019 DL is setup and ready for test and a few extra detail bits (I've had a delivery of 3D printed stuff) ahead of BRM Doncaster. I may add a few photos in the next couple of weeks. Cheers, Mick
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted February 9, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 9, 2019 Before the show opened, our leader AY took a few photos for a future BRM article. DL ran reasonably well today apart from a minor issue with a DCC breaker having a bit of a strop and a couple of the usual operator errors - including me...... Looking forward to another day playing trains tomorrow. Cheers Mick

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted February 10, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 10, 2019 (edited) DL ran pretty well again today. As always, there's work to be carried out to make it better/easier to run. The latest was a "remote" panel for one half of the fiddle yard. It proved successful with the team, so another one will appear for the other yard in due course (but not in time for the next show at Preston in 3 weeks. Andy Y did the honours with the camera for a future article in BRM and video footage was also captured. Must get round to writing the words....... If anyone took a few pictures of DL at Doncaster, feel free to post them here. Oh - and ta to the operating team - you know who you are, Cheers, Mick Edited February 10, 2019 by newbryford
Southwich
Was really nice to meet you today Mick - I must say Deadman’s Lane is a superb layout! Thank you to Jack for letting us ‘service’ our Lafarge PGA on the layout as well! It looked superb behind the DB 60 look forward to seeing the layout again soon. Kind regards, Will 9
Popular Post Jack374
Here are my photos from the weekend. As Mick has said, the layout ran exceptionally with only a couple of minor operational and equipment glitches to sort. We were all responsible at some point for shorts or derailments! A huge thanks as ever to Mick and team for letting me play trains operate the layout. Thanks, Jack.
themymysteryman101
Loved seeing the layout for the first time at Doncaster yesterday, unsurprisingly it always seemed to be drawing a crowd! Here's a short video of the event, with Deadmans Lane featuring from 10:17
calvin Streeting
oneof those yellow things came through maidstone the other day and a friend of mine grabed some shots. (not being a modern loco person, i asume mantance train) oh and PS nice layout his text was Colas 37 521 passes Maidstone East on 3Z05 10:08 Dollands Moor Sdgs to Derby R.T.C. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted March 3, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 3, 2019 Deadmans Lane ran well over the weekend at Preston Exhibition. Thanks to all those that came and chatted. Your positive comments were most appreciated. The team is getting used to assembly/running/dis-assembly - I reckon it takes up to 10 shows to get into a routine with a layout. Thanks to my two guest operators - hoping that one will be a full returnee to the hobby after a few years absence......... There may be a few pics later. There's still plenty of work to be done on DL for the future More detailing for example. Some of it will be behind the scenes with the signal controls. Next shows are Hazel Grove and Wigan in October 2019. Cheers, Mick 1

RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted March 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) Really enjoyed watching and chatting on Saturday. Gets the feel for RTC brilliantly. Here's a sketch of the new layout at Way & Works with the new crossover (red) allowing wrong road moves out of the station. (That'll be fun to manage off stage!) Paul. Paul. Hi Paul, Thanks for the compliments. I guess you were the signalling guy trying to locate Trent House...… If so, a quick question - do you know what type the signals TD5044/5046 are? Any chance of a picture of a similar type? I do have a couple of "emergency" crossovers that are manually operated and normally only used for moving stock from the inside to outside loops and back when we want to shuffle around the trains. I could use one of them to allow use of the red route...….. Cheers, Mick
