RMweb Premium newbryford Posted April 25, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 25, 2018 Looking good Mick, do you have any photos of the main shed? Maybe tomorrow - depends on how much work gets done on it. It is a mere box compared to your epic. I'm holding off on posting too many as it's taking up valuable modelling time and also I'd like it to be "mostly" seen for real first. Cheers, Mick

Jack374
Many thanks to Mick and Graham for inviting me down on Thursday to "help" them with the layout by running trains...I couldn’t say no could I! We gave it a quick run to find any minor faults such as broken droppers, before dismantling it so it can be moved elsewhere and worked on before the show in two weeks. Mick said about not wanting to post too many photos, but here’s one just to show the new testing facility that has been erected, I believe to research how to bond plastics... RMweb Premium newbryford Posted April 28, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 28, 2018 (edited) Hi Mick Is that DCC talk for it is not working...... Just saying..... Hi Clive, That's DCC code for "B*gger, a broken soldered joint that could have happened anywhere on any layout that has soldered joints, DC or DCC......." What miffed me more was that it was a broken soldered joint. I have higher standards than that. What miffed me more was that it was a broken soldered joint. I have higher standards than that. Cheers, Mick Hi Mick Broken solder joint? Can happen to the best. The look on the faces of some of the best wiremen I worked with when as an assembly inspector I would find some poor or unsoldered joints. All the good wiremen would have the job back and sort out the problem. The not so good ones, it was easier to fire up my iron and make the joints good.

That'll be Mick's version of the PDU then. (Plastics Development Unit in my day) I don't recall them having bottles of glue QUITE that large though....... leopardml2341
Unlikely that I'll make it to Derby, despite the proximity. Will be there to give you some Cross-Pennine banter at DEMU though, prior to beering in Burton
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted May 7, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 7, 2018 (edited) Apologies for the picture quality - sunlight and shadows in the room. Much work has been carried out in the last few days (nothing like a deadline!) There is still more to do, particularly around the main EDU building (hence no photos of it), but it is all planned and the bits are ready. Grateful appreciation to Spike for accommodating DL and his efforts. Some of the smaller/more fragile details are being left off until the last session. There is also some touching up of edges/ballast to be carried out at the same time. Really looking forward to taking it to Derby in a few days.
