JWB
I notice that Kato has a new run of HO SD9043MACs. This motivated me to finish the two previous-run ones I have. UP 8105 now also has a decoder: Â Â These locos run beautifully, and if anything, better with a good decoder. I note, though, how models can be overtaken by events: SD9043MACs were common in Southern California through last year, but have since been renumbered to make room for new ES45s, and at least one reference says they're now stored out of service due to cracked frame issues. Here's a prototype shot -- while they never got wings or the flag scheme, they all got the yellow sill stripe. Â Â It looks like Kato has put the yellow sill stripe on the new run. stock_2007
Looking at the webcam on the tower at North Platte there seems to be a lot more SD90/43's stored there then there used to be. Some don't seem to have moved for a while.

dave1905
First the bolts holding the fuel tanks on the engines broke.  They fixed that.  Then the brackets the bolts were in that held on the fuel tank broke.  They fixed that.  Then the frame near the brackets broke.  They have a fix for that if its deemed worth it.  They are among the least reliable units in the UP's fleet so they will be some of the last units reactivated, if they are ever reactivated.
