CraigZ Posted November 12, 2013 Share Posted November 12, 2013 I've known Phil for 25 years...I've not heard from him yet. He lives on the northern shore of Samar Island so was north of the worst of the storm...the BBC web page shows he'd have seen winds 'only 60-120 kph'. I live in the southeastern US and know what kind of damage those winds can do. I suspect his real problem now is now a lack of electricity and telecom service.  If I hear anything I'll let you guys know. I have no idea whether he has close family on the outside because it may be worthwhile alerting the Foreign Office/ State Dept. The coming weeks will be very challenging out there. Phil is English; I met him here in North Carolina when he was coming over for work and visited the hobby shop where I worked while at university...
