Prof Klyzlr
Dear Warbonnet, Â Pity they don't offer the cabs standalone, but maybe now BNSF 3838 and the slug running out of Kansas will be a do-able model project... warbonnetuk
in the US a Santa Fe modeller called Perry Lambert, under the name Santa Fe Prototypes, had started a project to do a cab / chop nose unit to fit onto a P2K Geep. This was a few years back and as I understand he had issues getting it tooled up in China and has now thrown his lot in with Railflyer so your guess is as good as mine as to whether it ever comes to fruition. Â Needless to say I'm $60 down on deposits for 2 of them... Â Dan

Dr Gerbil-Fritters
At last, a pretty key piece of kit for folk like me.   and one I've photted several times in my travels around SoCal
Prof Klyzlr
Dear Dan,  Needless to say I'm $60 down on deposits for 2 of them...  Have hunted around the IM site, any clues as to how/where a pre-order could be lodged? (I'm probably missing something really obvious, it's been a very very long few weeks at work...)  Happy Modelling,Aim to Improve,Prof Klyzlr
Glorious NSE
My impression is this is a sorta "pre-announcement" - i.e. they haven't listed specific numbers for folk to put orders on yet.

alastairb
Looks good. Might just have to get one then scratchbuild a slug so I can model this. Seen in Oklahoma City in 2005. Â All the best Alastair
Glorious NSE
A little like buses.... Â Genesis has just shown test samples of their Topeka cab geep!
dibber25
Are these only suitable for Santa Fe? How close would it be, for instance, to the Geeps (GP9s) used by SRVI on Vancouver Island?
warbonnetuk
you'll need to do a little research as BNSF sold a most of the GP7/9 fleet off to lessors or short lines.  Personally a couple in WAMX / Kansas & Oklahoma black / yellow scheme would be perfect for Galatia  Dan
Clay Country
A chop-nose CP Geep wouldn't go amiss either, although I don't know how much of a leap that would be from the ATSF units.
Glorious NSE
Are these only suitable for Santa Fe? How close would it be, for instance, to the Geeps (GP9s) used by SRVI on Vancouver Island? These match ones converted by the Santa Fe in their own shops, but as others have said lots sold off. Â IMRC are also doing ex IC and Family lines? geep rebuilds too, all different looking creatures. warbonnetuk
A little like buses....  Genesis has just shown test samples of their Topeka cab geep! Sad that Athearn / IM want to cut their own throats. Given that we'll have to pre-order esp for any shortline roads this turns into a right c##pshoot as who produces an accurate model  Dan
torikoos
give it another 6 months and mth might  be the next, just like those EMD SD70ACE loco's etc...

RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted November 11, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2013 I ordered some Athearn N scale locos due out about three years ago. Some of them arrived a couple of weeks ago. I feel lucky that they ever made it to production let alone to the UK! Â Ian
