87023Velocity
Last of the paint applied to 90036, black added around the lights, grills and window surrounds. Next step will be gloss varnish before adding the transfers. 11 3
87023Velocity
90036 is now starting to have transfers applied. Prior to this, several coats of Klear were applied. The RfD logo transfers are from Fox, overhead warning flashes are Railtec. Orange cant lining and loco numbers will be from Railtec (once I have ordered). This should be ready for Macclesfield show but will probably run as ex-works until time permits to weather. Cheers Simon 11
87023Velocity
90036 now ready for a coat of varnish. Numbers and orange cantrail stripes added (from Railtec). Hopefully start the process of carefully reassembling everything early next week along with fitting etched arrows and plaques. 15
87023Velocity
Little renumbering job this weekend. Both the DVTs on Dallam have now received new identities, 82121 Carlisle Cathedral and 82135 Spirit of Cumbria, both originally numbered as 82125. Numbers are from Railtec and nameplates from Shawplan. These will both be weathered and detail added to the buffer beam. Cheers Simon

Nice repaint but does anyone know why this loco received Railfreight Distribution lettering in red, and half height, rather than the larger black version applied to some other 90s, 92s and 47s? cheers Ben A. Thanks Ben, I don't know why red lettering was used but I seem to remember this livery was a trial following on from 90130 in its SNCF livery. 87023Velocity
90036 has finally had a run on Dallam earlier to check all the lights were working ok. All the glazing and majority of the detail has been refitted. The roof detail will be painted on the loco, hopefully tomorrow evening along with adding the pipes to one end. The weathering will be done at a later date after Macclesfield show. Cheers Simon 17 1
Popular Post 87023Velocity
With less than 2 weeks to the Macclesfield Model Railway Exhibition, some final little bits of detail work have been carried out on some of the wagons, namely fitting tail lamps, dummy coupling and brake pipes to wagons which are fixed formation. The tail lamps are from West Hill Wagon Works, the dummy coupling and pipes are from Farish out of my spares box. The Tail lamps are moulded in white, I have just added a dot of EWS maroon for the lense.
87023Velocity
After 5 shows, I have finally sorted a name board for the layout. This has been made from a Scale Model Scenery kit. It is laser cut MDF which just requires painting and gluing together. Just starting to take the layout down ready for Friday and the trip to the Macclesfield show. Popular Post 87023Velocity
Evening all, cannot believe it is over 4months since Macclesfield show. Unfortunately not much modelling has happened since then, plenty of running but no modelling. Hopefully with the darker evenings approaching I may get some projects started and completed. Here are some pictures from running the layout over the past few months. Cheers Simon Edited August 31 by 87023Velocity

87023Velocity
With the body fully stripped of its Freightliner livery, a start was made on the fresh paintwork. So over the past 2 evening's, a base coat of white was first applied followed by the Rail Yellow this evening. Cheers Simon 9 1
87023Velocity
Bit more progress with the European RfD class 90, both shades of grey now applied along with the blue roof. Just the doors, around the windows and lights to spray black along with Executive dark grey around the body side grills. Cheers Simon
87023Velocity
The last of the paintwork on 90034 has been completed this evening with the doors, cabside windows, windscreen surround and light units sprayed black. The body side grills were sprayed Executive dark grey last night. Next will be to check it all over for any touching up that might be required.

87023Velocity Posted Sunday at 19:45 Author Share Posted Sunday at 19:45 Couldn't resist pairing 90034 & 90036 for a run on the intermodal rake even though it's not finished and the detail all needs refitting. Cheers Simon
87023Velocity Posted Wednesday at 10:34 Author Share Posted Wednesday at 10:34 Almost ready for a coat of satin varnish I think. The number sets arrived from Railtec yesterday, very quick service as usual from my experience. Warning flashes added to the nose ends and can handrails and door handles picked out in silver.
