RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted November 13, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) Are the cover photos also inside the book? If so why worry? No John they aren’t....the previous two books I submitted half a dozen for them to choose, this one just four. Problem is of course you lose some images that would have made the book. RMweb Gold mabel Posted December 3, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 3, 2018 This was Railmatch BR yellow, with Humbrol gloss varnish over the top. This seemed to be OK but I followed up with a Tamiya Satin which has reacted. They were all rattle cans. The Railmatch I’m assuming is enamel had been sprayed on months ago.....the Humbrol was acrylic as was the Tamiya. This was Railmatch BR yellow, with Humbrol gloss varnish over the top. I could bore you for hours on what manufacturers paint & thinners does or doesnt work with other manufacturers...... T

RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted January 16, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 16, 2019 (edited) No updates in over a month, the building work is taking over. We are now fully watertight, roof, windows and Veluxs all fitted. This week the heating system is being laid in the kitchen / diner, lounge and layout room........floor down next! I've acquired my wife's old phone as she has got a new one. Didn't fancy the floral hard case she had for hers!....... so I ordered a new one via Photobox......... Its 33022 in 1979 leaving Brighton with the 1500 departure to Manchester Piccadilly, taken by me from the station switchboard which was in the Combined Engineering Depot. Photo was taken in poor light conditions so looks a bit grainy. I'm rather pleased with it...might think about making these and others available for sale. RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted January 17, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 17, 2019 Prime position for photos, bit of a pain when the breakdown crane or the Eastbourne parcels were berthed there! The telephone exchange was in the room next door, facing the station.
RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted February 27, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 27, 2019 The hobby room is largely finished, just coving and sockets to be fitted. It’s being utilised as a furniture store to clear the lounge for the plasterers. The kitchen diner is nearly finished, I’m decorating it prior to second fix and the kitchen being delivered. As a result no progress on Kensington Olympia. It’s still in the Mother in laws garage.
RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted February 27, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 27, 2019 The Class 68s for TPE having been running up and down between York and Scarborough for some weeks now on driver training. Monday saw a full push pull set on test between Manchester and Scarborough. Here is 68024 and Mk5 set at the foot crossing just up the road from our house.
RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted April 19, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2019 Still no progress with Olympia although our new garage is now secure so it will be moving a bit closer to home shortly. My Eastern Region book was out on the 16/4/19 and the Midland Region book has just been sent in after proof reading. I’m pleased with the cover, no cropping issues this time. I will be doing a book signing at the York Model Railway Show on Sunday at the SLW stand.....at other times I can be found at the Monk Bar Model shop stand where I now have a part time job. https://m.facebook.com/suttonslocoworks/

Duncan.
Hi Andy, I have my copy of your ER book. I really like it. It looks like a train spotters album , a little different from 'professional' photos, but I prefer yours because it shows some areas and locos 'warts 'n'all'. There are some cracking views that include lineside clutter and fabulous weathering of both stock and the general railway area... am considering purchasing the MR book too. Cheers

Cheers Many thanks Duncan, the warts n all views was my intention. I try to get photos from locations that are less well know.....well to me anyway. I’m very pleased with MR book, more so than the the ER one to be honest.
RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted May 5, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2019 (edited) Flooring for the Railway room being fitted on Thursday.......so Friday will see me start to bring the layout back home and assembled fully for the first time in over two years. Yippee! In the mean time I’ve started to get some of my collection of Railway and bus signs unwrapped and mounted on the walls. Flying Scotsman was passing through today enroute from Scarborough to Paddington. Here she is at Towthorpe Lane on the edge of Haxby, York. RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted July 6, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 6, 2019 Slight detour from tiling the bathroom, got one of two SR cast iron signs mounted in the garden. M20 coach bolts to hold that one up.
