I guess finding Insurance for the Compressor should be easy   ......

Lunchtime post arrived from Kernow, a new addition.

Don't worry, the guy is called "Tiny", he is the strongest member on the team.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well,  another week spent in hospital, think I won the NHS Lottery, but managed to get out late yesterday afternoon.

I take it, no one likes the compressor then.

I did start,on the track circuitry for 3rd rail, 10 day's ago, hopefully will get back into it on Monday.

Double Induction heads with connecting plate, the top end has been painted, connecting plate is to be measured and cut, then

the other end (translucent) to be glued and painted.

Good to see you have scrambled out of the hospital dt, a very welcome return to the pages here.

PS. I hope the Dover cliffs are no less stable for the removal of the huge amount of rock, now residing on your layout   ......    :O  :O

The first of 3rd rail induction circuits have now been installed, using 3d print item's.

Having gained some confidence in painting,it is now fitted.

The only concern I had was with Running the Windhoff MPV,which has the lowest slung coupling of my loco stock.

It just catches the bolt head's which are of a minuscule size on the 3D printed induction head, so will have to file them down.

This coupling will also catch the centre of point's,if they are not perfectly flat.

Sorry about the awful photos,

Wow David, this really is remarkable modelling, first class.

I have to agree with Peter, I was looking at photos from your post on the 5th of September and honestly thought you had uploaded a photo of the real location. Stunning, Truly stunning.....

Excellent work.

Thanks for kind comments, am looking forward to you building that large "shed"

To be honest David, I thought I was looking at pictures of the real thing, rather than a model.

You've certainly captured a very effective railway atmosphere. There's a realistic "edge" to your pictures that I can't put into words - nothing twee or forced here.

Thank you Peter, I use various cameras,..... web cam ipad, compact, and a bridge camera, still not very good at it though.

I do not Photoshop any, would not know where to start. just started to crop them in edit.

Might it not be easier to ...  file down the coupling a little?

I like the items on and around the tracks.  It gives the layout a very realistic look indeed.  Are the 3D Point Motor people able to make the Point Motors with a descent space under them, for a small Bell Crank perhaps?

All the best for the Op.

Thanks J. I had thought of filing the latch coupling down earlier today and think that will be the way to go.

Why don't you pose your 3d printing question, in the 3d topics thread, am sure you will have an answer.

Graham, Re ballasting, am waiting for signals and also a platform 1 update/replacement.

Nice! What mechanism is powering the 74, if you don't mind my asking?

Hi Jeff,

It is "unbranded", but suspect is is a Hornby type(?) it has"free gearing", when pushed.

It was fitted with a hard wired basic decoder when bought.

He did contact me to say he may order a minimum of resin bodies for a Class 71,but this was after DJM had announced his crowd sourcing 71,which I had already ordered.

I do like Peter's work also.  Britannia Pacific Models.

Hope these Pics help.

Nice picture. Dover Ferry Yard. The train is standing in No.1 road, ready to leave via Dover Priory. Or it could have arrived via Folkestone and propelled in. Someone can check the headcode.

The track over the level crossing is still double track.

Lots of detail. Nice

Don't know the date of the photo, but the 71s came out of service in the late 1970s (1977?). My oldest SEG SR headcode book, which has 1976 info, has 9D as "Hither Grn Continental Depot - Meopham - Dover" (and vice versa of course).

I suspect it's the train I keep banging on about - 71 hauled - blue Transfesa vans full of Spanish onions - seen many, many, times in the very late 60's / early 70's passing Gillingham going Up towards Hither Green sometime in the mid afternoon. No more details than that.

Can anyone ID the train - I'd love to know after all these years ?

Someone must have a Southern freight WTT for that period ?
