Moorings,

Due to an earth tremor here, yesterday at 0258 Hrs. 10 miles from the epicenter at Sandwich, 4.5 on the Richter scale, I delayed posting.

Well, i am looking again at this awkward recess of DP.

After Runs as Required had PhotoSweatShopped, some of my photographs to made up the southern aspect of DP's back scene.

One of the problems was, marrying up the join in the recessed corner with the building's.

So, in an attempt to hide the corner, I will attempt to build the upper floor, over the next few weeks, while the canopy is off.

Sack those incompetent Geordies dossing in that white Transit down by the Network Rail prefab during the week.

I suggest this jumpy out corner really needs a different approach - because it doesn't work and jars on the north and east views through/across the platforms.

I agree about remaking the back of the Art Deco station master's house - but I'd mask the jumpy out with some more of your really good 'shallow' trees.

The castle and the Folkestone road bit looks good but I recommend a bit of Freeb's fencing along the back of the platform (I'm on commission :mosking: ) before the distant view of the castle.

Very impressed by all this etch building.

I'd always fantasised about the romance of those night ferry vehicles ...until....

we came back from our honeymoon via Dunkerque in one and I had not a wink of sleep. I can still recall the reverberations through my head via my pillow of the chains clanking on the deck of the steel train ferry as they restrained each vehicle.

But it felt good next morning asking for more toast as we slid across Sarf London to Victoria (on our BR free passes) along tracks I'd slummed it along for years in 4 SUBs.

The Night Ferry was a trip I'd only choose once. The Hook Continental (pre-war LNER Coronation coaches) out of L'pool St to Parkeston Quay connecting with the Rheingoldt at the Hook usually delivered an much calmer night.

Moorings,

Having now received, a lost file, from runs as required, am now considering a rework of Platform 1.

These, were original photographs taken by me, reduced to size by runs as required.

Certain pieces were cut out and removed,to fit the length of the model of platform 1 at DP.

Have wondered where/why, you have been missing, for quite a number of weeks.

Fire at Fiumicino airport Rome/flight cancellations/diversions/long arguments with intense former postgrad students that were supposedly holiday...er...do you want more?

PS

anyways - are those back of platform files the right ones? Had to retrieve off a separate storage hard disk

Luv making embankment from the building foam board David... :paint:

Some great modelling, hard to tell at times which is 1:1 and which is 1:76 !!

The new uprights are looking good DT.

photos look brilliant

Hi Dave - Hope you are well. Just recently managed to see the progress of the layout - fantastic and brilliant modelling.  Allan

Moorings, Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Thank you for your posts,  appreciate your support, am always revising,

Progress is slow banding the uprights in this hot weather, tempted to bask offshore.

The photos were taken early this morning, while the station was quiet, most passengers were being transferred by bus.

A lot of detail to do for this corner.

The trees are also in full leaf.

Moorings,  nor easterly winds brr.

Having found my non conformist building methods of constructing the canopies for DP, did not work out.

Here is, very slow, re construction for, I think the 4th time, you all should be bored by now.

These are a test, with upright's at end's only, there is slight flexibility, at the lower ends for straightening and final positioning.

That's the theory.

Working at a height of 4' 10", gives me a better viewing platform.

Moorings,  Travelling to the "other side of the world", today, (Folkestone).

So, after the test of the 2 ends, uprights,

all of the other uprights were fitted, then the fitting of the open web trusses, hopefully giving a little more strength the the uprights.

Here are the results,   found the canopy has a slight twist to it.

when it finally comes to permanently attaching it to the platform,

am hoping my theory of using, balsa spacers, tween the uprights' will make them "look right"

Work will start very soon, on the uprights of platform 1 canopy.

New fascias, are in hand, for both platform canopies.  (I hope).
