60091
Another shot of Knottingley. April 1984. Not a Sunday, but a weekday during the miners strike. We were allowed a quick look around and the 56s on shed were - 126 097 030 129 124 106 003 082 022 and 023.

Rivercider
Happier times for 56.106 in Oct2005 during construction of the LGV Est rev 56106 LGVEst Oct 2005.jpg In the latter part of my career I worked at Barton Hill (as a roster clerk) when Barton Hill were doing refurbishment work on class 37s and 56s for the Fertis project. I would walk past some of them on my way to and from work, the standard of paint finish on a 56 when seen close up was really smart I thought. Foolishly I seldom took a camera to work, so have no record, cheers
60091
...and again in August 1996 with 56s still the most numerous class on shed. No chance of a look around the shed this time so the only Class 56s identified were 043 and 067. There were two other 56s standing outside, along with 60021 08783 and an 09.

RMweb Gold 4630 Posted December 11, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2018 Following a quick 'wash and brush up' after their RHTT duties, Colas 56096 and 56094 returned to working 6M32/6E32 Lindsey Oil Refinery - Preston Docks bitumen tanks on 11th December. RMweb Premium iands Posted December 18, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 18, 2018 No firm date for this one, but it was during Railtrack days (so I'm guessing around 1999-2001) when on a "survey" of certain yards/sidings for lease by EWS (IIRC 125 year leases). Whilst at Milford sidings this one trundled by, heading towards Gascoigne Wood. Alas, neither 56074 or its namesake Kellingley Colliery are still with us.

Barnetby East2.jpg This was the interim period just prior privatisation being signed, where a policy of overhauled locos were left in primer/undercoat so the new 'owners' could apply their own livery.I photographed several Class 37/56 and 60 like this. Wayne 37901
This was the interim period just prior privatisation being signed, where a policy of overhauled locos were left in primer/undercoat so the new 'owners' could apply their own livery.I photographed several Class 37/56 and 60 like this. Mike Wiltshire Not quite correct, Wisconsin Central had already bought the three 'shadow' freight companies and locos were painted in this manner until they decided on a company livery and name which of course was English Welsh and Scottish railways, the livery was based on Wisconsin's livery of red and gold. The 'ghost' period was about 1996. Privatisation was given the go ahead in 1993 with the signing of a new railways act.
