Not a joke but a scientific fact:

"A fart is the lonesome cry of an imprisoned turd"

That does, rather worryingly, ascribe sentience to excrement.

But it sometimes escapes when you least expect it.

That explains our political system.

Sentience in excrement I can accept, after all they cry lonesomely when imprisoned, but sentience in our political system?  Where's the evidence?

An excellent map.

Don't take any notice of Rivet Counters and pedants who complain that the map doesn't show the railway on Signy Island. At the scale of this map, it hardly shows Signy Island at all, let alone any railway! 😀

All very well, but what about the first item listed in that first link:

Dumont d’Urville

David Rootes of the British Antarctic Survey suggests that this French survey base made use of a narrow gauge railway to bring equipment ashore from a jetty. This would make it the only recorded railway on the Antarctic continent, and by far the most southerly railway in the world.

Is this the latest offering from Rapido Trains?

Probably one more for the Irish.

Fascinated by it as a kid. Had some strange idea that it was in Wales due to it being in a book of British Narrow Gauge railways.

Unfortunately it seems that Irish independence saw its demise. Would have been a great tourist attraction.

There is some film footage somewhere which shows it wasn't as daft a system as you would think.

Only if they can get Peco on board with a track system...
