The inspiration for Mike Smash from Smash and Nicey.

Obviously Dave Nice is Fluff Freeman.

For those of a different era or country. It was a parody of Radio One DJs at the time. Some of which were well past their sell by date.

You had blokes in their 50s and 60s playing records for teenagers.

Who can remember this absolute gem?

I like listening if the pipes and drums have a full brass and woodwind accompaniment. Some of the Scottish regimental bands sound fantastic with the mixture of instruments.

Yes, the brass and woodwind do a good job of drowning out the racket the pipes make....

The '79th' and 'Scotland The Brave' wouldn't sound right without the pipes:

Scotland I like and I’m married to a Scotswoman but, I can get the same noise by squeezing my cat as comes out of bagpipes.

I thought it was rather the other way round - the bagpipes are made out of the inedible bits of the haggis.

The natural history of the haggis is, I think, well-known. The legs on one side are longer than on the other, for following the contours round the mountains. Male and female haggis have the longer side on opposite sides (I forget which way round) which ensures the occasionally meet for breeding.
