This actually happened....

The other day on Faceache something popped up in my feed inviting me to a meeting of the University of Sussex Flat Earth Society. The venue was The Globe pub, Brighton. :D

And it doesn't end there! The entertainment news site UniLad made an article explaining that the group was almost certainly a clever prank, and this angered the members. They said in a statement on Monday: "We are deeply saddened to hear of this report written by UNILAD, mocking both our society, our members and events. We take great pride in our inclusive society with members from all around the world."

Nothing wrong with that, if your view is that it's a disc.

Oh no, I respect their views, but surely 'around the world' implies that the earth isn't flat?

I would say a disc is circular , but only when viewed from the front , on the edge it is just a

a vertical line with no shape .

 E.G.   O = disc .

          I = side view .

 Round would indicate the same shape when viewed from any point .

So according to you a circle is not round. Presumably there are no round Roundabouts either?

Does your car not have round wheels?

Can I just say, I didn't want to cause a debate on what constitutes a circle and what doesn't, so could we maybe return to the jokes?

What, go full circle?

Is this a 5 minute argument or the full half hour?

The Flat Earth Society claims to have members all over the globe.:jester:

My wife just stopped, and said “You weren’t even listening, were you?”

I thought to myself, “That’s a very strange way to start a conversation......”.
