The second part of this amazing but very sad collection of classics apparently abandoned in collapsing sheds, location unknown, but its not Kent.

At 12 mins in a ZA Magnette, 13 mins in a Rover P4 75 cyclops and at 21 mins in is a Jowett Jupiter.

And this on YT

Build-your-own traffic jam?

Personally, I avoid driving around in large groups in any of my oldie worldie cars.

Or, any sort of 'large group',  to be right.

Unless competing in authorised motor sporting events.

Which is unlikely given the paucity of my pension income these days.

I will attend one or two very 'local' events....{ I am reluctant to pay to be on show, especially when having to drive many miles to get there],

More likely to see my olde worlde cars in a local supermarket car park....whilst I'm doing my shopping.

This is parked outside the auto shop at the local high school. No registration, so it looks like it’s just ‘instructional equipment’.

Continuing the Italian interlude heres a picture i found while sorting thing out at my mums house.
Its the first car I can remember the family having. It belonged to my mum and was red. IMG_0757.jpeg.caa102a38ebd6b39db7b7aac572a62a0.jpegThe picture is dated June ‘69.

It was followed by much less adventurous types like Datsun Cherries and Mk1 Polos.

Possibly belongs to the history department, to be used in the "Warnings from....." part of the syllabus?

I jest - an old friend of mine always said he couldn't see the point of TR7s at all and that the driving position seemed ridiculous.  Then a few years ago he bought one....

Thanks for the memories.

The FIAT 850 Coupe was one of the cars I lusted after back in the 1960s. As you probably know FIAT made a series of Coupe models based on mundane models back then, including the 124. I always admired the 128 in both saloon and Coupe versions. I could afford none of them though, a very early secondhand Hillman Imp had to suffice. A very interesting car requiring more than a little "fettling".

Kind regards,

Richard B

Today, we still complain about not being able to get our doors open...  :)  :)

Yes, but you'd be hard pressed to get two typical cars of today in the space occupied by those three!

Even more intriguing is the fact that the 126 Bis [made in Poland, bless 'em]...has a 2 cylinder water-cooled engine, which proudly bears the cast-in name, ''Lancia'' on its crankcase!

Years ago, Deb's mum had bought a new 126. They went out for lunch, and Deb said afterwards that it seemed to run lumpy as if it only had three cylinders. She was amused when I said it was only two!

The wheels suggest an Acclaim, or is it a Ballade?  Both very rare now; the Triumph was one of my BiL's first cars which he had for quite a few years, he loved it.

While on "normal" vehicles, at the weekend a beautiful yellow Mk2 Escort pulled up alongside me at the lights, with RS alloys but was badged as a 1.3;. Always good to see the ordinary versions of cars still in use and cared for; there's a G-reg Metro round here too that I used to see on the road most mornings.

That brings back fond memories, my aunt was US Sales Director for Abarth, she had an Abarth 1000 Coupe as her company car (850 coupe with a 1000cc tweaked engine fitted). We were over there on holiday and she tossed the keys to Dad along with an envelope and said you're off to Monza tomorrow. Complimentary tickets for the Italian Grand Prix as a birthday present for me ...

Certainly looks like an Acclaim, I've had three, although rare I've seen more of them around than their replacement, the Rover 213/216/Honda Ballade which really are rare and seem to rust quicker than the Acclaims! I have never seen any Honda Ballades (Acclaim versions!) at all, I don't think many were sold in the UK, though I have seen some Civics that have a very similar front, though obviously a hatchback rear! This year at Pride of Longbridge there were two 213/216s, though no Honda versions, last year there was a Ballade 213, though no Rover versions. There were over 60 R8 200/400s but only my Concerto this year!

Pretty certain it's an acclaim as the owner has put a super cover sticker in which wouldn't be appropriate on a Honda

Didn't Honda withdraw the ballade from UK sale after it signed the deal with BL?

Yes I believe that the Ballade (Acclaim version) wasn't marketed in the UK (according to AROnline), they were assembled at Cowley. The SD3 Ballade version (the Rover 213/216 "Bucket" car) was built at Longbridge alongside the Rovers at Longbridge, the Ballades were then sent to Honda at Swindon where they were checked over before being released to the Honda dealers with lots of stickers saying they'd been quality controlled by Honda! That continued with the Concerto (the R8 Rover 214/216 clone), though with less stickers, I was comparing my Concerto last year with another person's Ballade and he had several stickers to my one!
