Nothing obstructing the view from the drivers seat on that.

A motorist would prefer a longer range view, hence my comment, you're welcome to your appreciation of the view as illustrated.

Two V8s they were quite rare, notice the Leyland cars logo which became the Austin rover logo but with the additional flash for jaguar

Don’t forget the IoM was a tax haven even back then, notice the Rolls Royce sign on the dealership also.....

It wasn't an "additional" flash, that was the normal lettering for a garage that sold all BL cars,  BL Cars Ltd (that photo shows the later symbol, the British Leyland one had an L in the middle so dates it after 1977/78) was divided up into three sections, Austin Morris for the run of the mill cars, a specialist division, "Jaguar Rover Triumph" and BL Components Ltd.

Mike 'the bike' Hailwood and his Iso Grifos, the yellow one hit a buffalo when Mike was driving it around in South Africa....

ISO MH#1.jpg

What a guy he was; just been watching archive coverage of the the IoM TT and he's still spoken of with reverence.

Oh and good of Iso to save money by using the front of a Triumph Dolomite on the Grifos.

That's basically what I said. I have some genuine Austin Rover overalls which have the three green bars on and Austin rover wording rather than Leyland cars

I haven't been able to track down confirmation online, but I remember legend having it that Motorcycle News once ran a competition, the prize for which was a pillion ride with Mr Hailwood around the TT course. The bike was a then newish Yamaha XS1100 with the traditional Japanese superbike qualities of huge power, feeble brakes and wobbly frame. Allegedly he lapped the island in a time that would have been respectable in competition. The "lucky" pillion s reaction was not recorded.

Would have been wasted on me. I'd have had me eyes shut for the duration.

Not the way it read to me, Russ. If you look in that link you will see the "Service" flash, which kept the old five-bar set-up (Austin, Rover, Jag, Rover, Triumph) even after Jaguar left which is what you have. On the dealership logos the Jaguar flash was dropped. But it wouldn't have been "additional" when that photo was taken, that was the standard for any dealer than sold the whole range.

Sorry I didn't really mead it was added but the third green bar in what was then the Leyland cars logo represented jaguar

To my eye when it was dropped and it became Austin rover and the representation had gone the logo looked better

Actually I'll correct myself, on that photos there IS an additional flash, a fourth green one by the look of it, for Land Rover. I know the original set up was five flashes, Austin, Morris (in blue) and Jaguar, Rover, Triumph (in green) but I haven't seen the LR one before. They could vary the number of  flashes dependant on what the dealer sold, so you could have just JLR, or, more commonly, just Austin and Morris.

Anyone fancy a British take on the muscle-car theme?

This popped up on one of my social media feeds. Not cheap, but it looks to be very nicely done, and how many 2-door Cokebottles have you seen for sale recently?
