The picture of Graham Hill looks suspiciously like the one taken by my colleague, we had an 18 foot blowup in B&W on our office wall......had to leave it behind when I retired, I suspect it was just torn down and scrapped as soon as I was out the gate

Certainly modified for film work. A pair of Stalwarts turned up in a Scrapyard in the USA a few months ago and people were asking on Farcebook what they were.

It may be for Judge Dredd which was shot at Shepperton Studios in the early '90s; an old friend who collects movie memorabilia has a phone booth from the set.

mmmmm Renault avantime, wish I’d have got one for pennies a few years back when I had the chance, similarly missed out on a Renault spider back in about 1999 that was used for a promotion and the garage owner wanted it gone and was asking about £10k for it!

Yes, it is a Dredd vehicle, I thought it might be too early but no, you are correct.

the avantime were a bit of an anachronism size of an espace but only 4 seats

Then again, a Rolls Royce Corniche is bigger than an Espace and only has four seats.

I think the comparison is reasonably fair as it was always intended as a premium product, not a family runabout. Perhaps a French Range Rover wannabe?

Here it is at the club concours last year.  The event is on again this Sunday, but unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year.

I think I'd call that a High-wing Farina? My mate's parents had the MG version. Michael and I saw an indicated 87 on the straight back road near his home. When they swopped it for a Zephyr 6 Mk #, he found he could get an indicated 93 on the same stretch. This was in 1965, before the 70 limit and others since. 30 years later I found it impossible to achieve those speeds safely on the same road, due to altered camber and surfaces etc., despite FWD, much tauter suspension, low-profile radials etc. Informative.

A huge collection of unrestored classics was auctioned off near Preston at the weekend. There's been quite a lot of comment and interest on various social media about the collection. There were some eye-watering vehicles in there which by all accounts, went for some eye-watering prices.

Cortina enthusiast Pete C, who lives nearby, went out with his video camera to have a look...

I haven't heard that term before, but it sounds a pretty good way of describing them.  Mine is a 1962 model - the 15/60 may have been discontinued in the UK in 1961, but they remained in production in Australia until February or March of 1962.  My car is one of the last ones made (it has the highest body number of any 15/60 in the club) and wasn't first registered until May of 1962.

In Australia, the 15/60 was replaced in March 1962 by the 24/80 Mark I, which had a similar body (including the high tailfins) to the 15/60, but had a 2.4 litre 6 cylinder version of the B Series 4.  The 24/80 Mark I was in turn replaced by the 24/80 Mark II, which had styling similar to the 16/60.  The Mark II ceased production in 1965, but cars were still being sold in 1966.  It was the last Wolseley sold new in Australia.

The car to the right of mine in the second photo is a 24/80 Mark II.

Just come across that my self.  Blimey sort the wheat from the chaff with that lot! Some cracking stuff there BUT what a shame somebody cares so little for it once they owned it to let it get to the state they were in.

I wouldn't call it a collection of unrestored classics - it's more like a scrapyard specialising in old, unusual and rare vehicles.  Why on earth would anyone in their right mind (if in fact he was in his right mind) purchase all of these and then let them decay to that state?  I can't help wondering if any of these cars will ever see the road again, or if they were all bought for their parts.

Agree, there was a Humber Super Snipe where someone had smashed all the glass including the curved rear window which will be difficult to replace if not impossible.
