CraigZ
Passed thru my town today heading back west. It had been at one of our major Marine Corps bases for some ceremonial uses down in the eastern part of the state. It is an NS class SD60E, rebuilt from NS EMD SD60 6515/HLCX 5978/CRIX 5978/UP 5978/ originally CNW 8014. The cab is an NS design fitted to these old spartan cabbed SD60s. Adrian Wintle
I've been trying to work out how to make up that cab but its that over-hang that looks a bit of a  ###### Nice photo.  I would agree. I'm concentrating on making a couple NS SD40Es (SD50s rebuilt to SD40-2 spec) instead as the body on these is effectively unchanged (especially in N-scale). I presume that an aftermarket AdmiralCurry* cab will appear sometime in HO (but I won't hold my breath for an N one).  Adrian  *corrected per Craig's post below

Not sure if there are other differences on the long hood though.
CraigZ
There's some confusion as to what exactly is an Admiral cab. This is a pretty reliable source http://www.altoonaworks.info/rebuilds/admiralcab.html  and says the cabs on the SD60E is not the Admiral. http://www.altoonaworks.info/rebuilds/ns_sd60e.html  If you want to scratchbuild, here's a profile shot from my friend Ward Sutton...plus a little street running in New Bern, NC.  EDIT - and if I'd dug around a bit more, I'd have found this...it's called a Crescent Cab http://www.altoonaworks.info/graphics/drawing_crescent.png
doctor quinn
There's a designer on Shapeways.com called "odiejlg" who does NS cabs - could be the answer. Â Nick
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted June 28, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2013 For N scale here is a cab although its not for sale at the moment.  http://www.shapeways.com/model/1062129/ns-crescent-cab-repaired.html?li=productBox-search  and for HO this one which is for sale  http://www.shapeways.com/model/1011969/1-87-crescent-cab-ho-scale-dimensions-not-confi.html?li=productBox-search
stock_2007
I have one Proto loco that's part way into its repaint to become a SD40E but if I could pick up a Shapeways cab I'm sure I could find other SD60 somewhere

Adding to my list of projects (at least, when it becomes available). I'll have to find an appropriate SD60M donor as well. It is a good thing I've actually gotten around to finishing a couple of my other projects (Kato C30-7 repaint into NS, Bachmann D8-40CW patched from LMS into NS).  Adrian
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted June 28, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 28, 2013 I know! Â Not doing my wallet much good either. Â Now that we have a few NS locos (other half already has a couple of NS locos prior to her buying one of the heritage ones whilst we were in the USA) this one will also have to be done. I could use my UP SD 60 but think I iwill get another one when the cab is released for sale on Shapeways. Â Ian
