Old Ordnance Survey maps show Bristol Stapleton Road as a "principal station". Those days have long passed...
Earlier this week we see a 66 rumbling through with stone from Avonmouth to Westbury.

Im not judging the people just some strange characters  last time i was there a young lady asked for  two pounds for a bus fare and i didnt say f off i gave her two pounds .  There shouldn't be any trees but a gas works , gas holders , water tank and semaphores in the back ground . The repeater tubular post bracket on the up relief  dates back a long way the only original structure to survive

With the Severn Tunnel closed for a couple of weeks for essential engineering works, trains have worked into the start of the block at Patchway. Here we see one such working from Westbury, passing a rather soggy Keynsham this afternoon.

When the Severn Tunnel was shut, 528 was one of the locos engaged on the trains to the site. Seen below on 4th July.

66528 6F07 Westbury

66528 'Madge Elliot' in the short lived Freightliner Powerhaul livery sits in Westbury Up Yard at the head of 6F07 Westbury - Patchway. This departure in the early hours of the following morning was heading to the Severn Tunnel worksite, a blockade which saw the Down line renewed.

Here's a few more recent ones to keep things up to date, well ish. All linked from Flickr. A few of 6M47 and 6V10, these are the loaded and empty halves of the same service.

66136 6M47 Newbury

A brief pause in Newbury as 66136, still carrying its Yiwu China branding, is seen working 6M47 Westbury - Acton.

Pre commuter quiet

After an early run along the Berks and Hants, there was about a 25 minute wait at an eerily empty Reading station for 66115 and 6M47 Westbury - Acton. This would follow the first passenger service of the day, operated by a class 165.

66130 St Blazey

66130 sits on the fuel point at St Blazey waiting its next move. The fuel point has many memories of the past painted on the wall - the markers of where to stop included 37, 47, 60, 66, 67 and interestingly, Class 153.

Red sky at night

After working 6V10 to Westbury from Acton, 66050 is seen running round its wagons before being shut down in the Down Yard. Even departing Acton half an hour late, this time of year 6V10 is a nice run down the B&H in daylight.
