I did the Bridgwater flasks and the 20/37 combo on it was failed by the previous driver when it arrived there so they had to hire in a loco to get it back to Crewe and that’s what we ended up with photo linked to from Flickr

Peter Kazmierczak
Thankfully the first two wagons were empty, so we can see 66511 accelerating hard out of Bristol on the mid-morning Wentloog - Southampton Maritime Freightliner. hmrspaul
A surprise, after not running for a few weeks I was surprised to see a GBRf train on the New Biggin Gypsum to Tees Dock service which characteristically wakes York station up around 15.00. This had been a DB service using elderly JRA https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/ferrytiphookaggregatebox Now uses more recent, 2nd hand MJA https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/gbrfmja Paul https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/class66 Edited July 6, 2023 by hmrspaul

RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted July 7, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 7, 2023 (edited) A blast from the past, given we have just passed the 25(!!) anniversary of the class's introduction. Yes, we have had class 66s for a quarter of a century, which will no doubt make a few of us feel pretty ancient... My first encounter with the class was at the Toton open day, during the August of that year. The first 4 of the class in the UK were all on display (missing was 66002, then at a test facility in Colorado) - 66003, 004 and 005 were pretty much directly off the boat at this point. A couple of years later the first and last of the class were on display at the Old Oak Common open day.
