eastwestdivide
Rotherham Road canal basin today, a double 66 on a lightweight train and a single on a heavyweight. Two red ones standing out in the gloom on a Wakefield Europort-Tinsley working of empty container flats. I believe the flats used on the Tinsley/Felixstowe circuit run to Wakefield for maintenance: And a single EWS livery one on the alternate-Saturdays Tinsley-Immingham steel working: Was hoping for a tram-train going the other way, but the steel ran slightly later than booked, which might make the driver's job a bit easier, as if it runs to time it can get checked at the signal here.

eastwestdivide
Another from Rotherham, here a Tinsley-Felixstowe container train passing the Parkgate tram stop today: Just missed a tram, so no side-by-side shot. The dodgy-looking display on the left is a camera artifact - it's fine in real life. Edited November 22, 2022 by eastwestdivide display

RMweb Gold 4630 Posted December 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) A couple of engineers' workings through Deighton on 4th December 2022, a very dull and wet morning along the Colne Valley. Shortly after daybreak Freightliner 66545 passed with 6Y31, Slaithwaite to Doncaster Belmont Down Yard... ...the drizzle had stopped an hour or so later when, following a reversal at Marsden, GBRf 66788 LOCOMOTION 15 approached with 6G82, Morley to Doncaster Belmont Down Yard. On 5th December 2022, GBRf 66770 with loaded aggregate hoppers rumbles towards Brighouse with 6M72, Rylstone Tilcon to Bredbury Tilcon. RMweb Gold 4630 Posted December 22, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 22, 2022 (edited) Two for the price of one at Brighouse on 22nd December 2022. DB Cargo 66004 leads sister 66177 with 6M16, Healey Mills Staging Sidings* to Knowsley Freight Terminal, empty bin liner. *66177 was working the empty bin liner as 6M26, Wilton EFW Terminal to Knowsley Freight Terminal, solo overnight on 21st-22nd December but encountered difficulties just west of Wakefield at Horbury Junction. The working was recessed at nearby Healey Mills until 66004 arrived from Knottingley some hours later to take the entire working forward in a Very Short Term Plan path as 6M16. RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted December 24, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 24, 2022 (edited) Plenty of class 66 action down here in Sussex today. Three trains ran through in the space of just over an hour from Eastleigh to engineering works in the Wandsworth/Clapham area. Sadly the weather wasn't great, but it got me out of the house for a while. First up is 66742 'Port of Immingham Centenary', heading the 6G15 10:42 Eastleigh - Wandsworth Common. The river is in flood, as usual for this time of year; a combination of recent heavy rain, the fact the river Rother joins the Arun just to the right of the picture and, despite this location being about 15 miles inland, the Arun still being tidal at this point. I then hastily made may way down to the field that can be made out behind the train for the next instalment. A very near miss. 66594 'NYK Spirit of Kyoto' heads up the 6Y90 11:16 Eastleigh East Yard - Wandsworth Common at Hardham, just as a southbound passenger train creeps into the shot. I left it as late as possible before pressing the shutter! 66585 trailed dead in transit. The lineside building to the right can just about be made out in the first picture (behind the 11th and 12th wagons). Finally I wandered off to my last location, another of my favourites; the footbridge just south of Hardham. A rather smoky 66035 was putting some effort into this train; the 6N35 11:47 Eastleigh East Yard - Clapham Junction. RTT stated that this had a timetabled trailing load of 2,000 tonnes. Not sure if it was quite that heavy, however there were some auto-ballasters at the end of the train which would no doubt have added to the weight. All-in-all a rather successful hour or so - three trains, with four locos from three different companies. RMweb Gold 4630 Posted December 27, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 27, 2022 In the late afternoon and through the gloom and light rain at Brighouse on 27th December 2022, Freightliner 66562 with 66517, 66519 and 66957 together with a single MWA wagon pass through with 6Z44, Carlisle New Yard to Leeds Balm Road.

I think it's 15 Falcon and 5 Autos, difficult to tell in the gloom, which would give 1800t max trailing (20x 90t) Jo

RMweb Premium Grampus Posted December 30, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 30, 2022 Morning all. Out for a walk yesterday afternoon whilst visiting family in the area, I came across 66752 on a freightliner in what remains of Tinsley yard. Great to see a train there but utterly unrecognisable from what had gone before. Mind you, last time I was there was on a shed visit (with a permit) on a school trip, a round-robin which took in Coalville, Tinsley and then Toton Open day, in 1979. All done in an old Transit van, with wooden bench seats in the back - it was a bit of a flog there and back from Salisbury! Huge respect, too, to the long-suffering teacher (himself an enthusiast) who drove us there and back. Oh for a Tardis and a digital camera! Happy New Year all, Paul
