Jack374
Some recent shots from Derbyshire & Leicestershire: Freightliner Powerhaul 66504 pulls up to the exit signal on the East Midlands Gateway exit/arrival line, which joins the freight-only Stenson to Sheet Stores Jn lone at Gateway West Jn. The train would reverse in Castle Donington EMDC before joining the MML near Ratcliffe Power Station, in the background of this shot... Our very own 'Big Jim' was crew on 66737, as it is pictured below easing into EMG on final approach. The terminal is behind me at this spot... DRS-hired, DB-owned, ex-EWS livery 66031 was caught at Barrow hauling 57307 'Lady Penelope' to Toton from Crewe. The 66 has stayed at Toton...is it the next for a repaint? Finally, Halloween yesterday saw GBRf 66752 and 66761 either end of a UTU Network Rail jolly from Derby RTC to Toton and back, a short run of less than 30 or so miles. Seen at Spondon just east of Derby with a very autumnal feel... Thanks, Jack.

RMweb Gold Popular Post 4630 Posted November 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 12, 2020 To provide a delivery to Dewsbury Blue Circle, following the derailment of 6E91 Hope (Earles Sidings) to Dewsbury Blue Circle as it passed through Sheffield station on 11th November, 6Z91 was run by Freightliner on 12th November. This ran via Huddersfield and Thornhill LNW Junction to reach Dewsbury from the west, rather than the usual direction from the east via Sheffield and Wakefield KIrkgate. Passing Colne Bridge, with only a few more miles until 6Z91 reached its destination, 66518 rumbles along with loaded cement tanks.
RMweb Premium Steadfast Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2020 (edited) One of the newbies earlier today. A combination of a fresh coat of paint and a very wet day, 66790, one of GBRf's former Swedish 66s, sits in Westbury Down Yard. It arrived last night on 6O31 and will work an engineer's to the Westcountry tomorrow. Just a record shot in the wet, but worth it as you never know what changes are afoot on the railway. How often do we say "I wish I had a photo of that". The cut off handrail and lack of little steps under the buffers could make access to the front tricky if it's ever run in multi or any other need to ascend the cab front! Little details for the modeller of the current scene, also the lower edge of the black lower front panel is higher than on a standard 66. This is where the Swedish ploughs and steps were fitted. It's also got the latest super bright headlights, duplicated air pipes and a load of boltheads on the roof where the air con and horns were previously mounted Jo Edited November 14, 2020 by Steadfast
RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 14, 2020 God help you if you have to couple it to another 66 with the same buffers! when I picked it up from longport it took us nearly 20 minutes to get the shackle over the hook when trying to couple to 66791! just passed 66791 in Doncaster as it happens 2
RMweb Premium Steadfast Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2020 Ha - I reckon we'll have the same problem with 59003 as that has the extra long Euro buffers. Easing it up is ok if there's loads of traffic with good handbrakes behind it! Worst thing is if you have one wagon to hook onto and it just slides if you try to ease up too much! RMweb Premium Popular Post Steadfast Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 14, 2020 Another GB 66 that rocked up today - 66789, the former 66250. Having arrived at Westbury light loco from Eastleigh as 0G71, BR large logo 66789 is shunted across to sit atop it's traffic for tomorrow. A quick shot as I walked out the door for home, luckily the loco paused under the yard lights. The last loco in the original batch, one of ten sold by DB to GBRf this was originally 66250. From a modelling perspective, this loco still retains its EWS / DB spec, complete with buckeye coupler, original side windows and GPS aerial. It has lost its side mirrors though. Jack374
Today I walked a short distance to Chellaston, to see GBRf 66791 lead the 5Q18 Soho LMD to Doncaster Works convoying WMR 323216 for an overhaul at Webtec.
