60091
Anyone know the reason for 66431 being stabled in the ballast sidings at Hexham today? It's many years since I've seen loco left here for a few days: a Class 60 which had failed on the Newcastle-Carlisle Line.
RMweb Gold 4630 Posted November 22, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 22, 2018 Anyone know the reason for 66431 being stabled in the ballast sidings at Hexham today? It's many years since I've seen loco left here for a few days: a Class 60 which had failed on the Newcastle-Carlisle Line. I don't know the precise reason, but piecing together its recent movements from TOPS lists available on other forums, it worked 0Y66 from Doncaster Roberts Road to York Parcels Siding on 15th November and seems to have been stabled there until 20th November. Then 20th November it worked, 0Z66, 22.05 York Parcels Siding to Hexham Tamper Sidings. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O58472/2018/11/20/advanced Where it has stayed until 22nd November and now working this as I type, 0Z66, 15.02 Hexham Tamper Sidings to Carlisle Kingmoor (DRS). http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O59404/2018/11/22/advanced

Itook the photos 13 30 today and there was no sign of life around the loco. Typically I hadn't looked at RTT at times which would have shown the various moves. Still seems a strange place to leave a 66 for a couple of days. Regards Alan

RMweb Gold 4630 Posted November 27, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 27, 2018 A couple from Brighouse on 27th November. Day 2 of Colas hiring a 'foreign' locomotive to cover 6M32/6E32 Lindsey Oil Refinery - Preston Docks turn. Yesterday produced a DB Cargo class 60 whilst today DB Cargo 66009 was in charge. Class 66s were never that common on this duty when DB Cargo (DB Schenker as it was then) held the contract - a solid class 60 turn - and in the almost 4 years that Colas has had the contract I can only recall a handful of occasions when a 66 has been used. 66753 'EMD Roberts Road' heads east with a loaded biomass working, 6E09 07.11 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station.

Mark Saunders
Oxford North Junction, a quick shot before climbing back into a nice warm cab... post-7638-0-11329400-1295698893_thumb.jpg I cant understand where the word Nice comes into it as all I would agree warm, I am convinced that the cab layout was devised by a sadist so that almost everything is positioned just out of reach and or awkwardly positioned!
