RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 17, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 17, 2018 In that case I would have been coasting from hanselmanns crossing heading to the 30kph bridge just before the old cruckmeole jn where the line to minsterley used to go off Unfortunatly for you the only ‘quiet’ bit of the journey between Welshpool and Salop!

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted June 26, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 26, 2018 (edited) 37516/37668 head 1Z70 Lancaster-Carlisle through Settle in place of the planned steam loco on 26/6/18. A steam ban had been enforced the evening before to cause the substitution. Cheers, Mick Edited June 26, 2018 by newbryford
RMweb Gold russ p Posted June 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 26, 2018 Nice old thornaby pair together, shame they weren't put together the preferred way is No1 end to No1 end apparently that is the best way for cooling especially in this weather

RMweb Gold 4630 Posted July 5, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5, 2018 West Coast Rail Company's 37706 leads 1Z25, 05.55 Southport to Scarborough, 'The Scarborough Spa Express' at Mirfield East Junction on 5th July 2018... ...with sister 37669 on the rear. The usual double-headed arrangement for the diesel portion of the working to York appears to have been substituted by 'top 'n' tail'. I'm guessing that this is for operational reasons to do with the steam portion of the working between York and Scarborough - if the steam portion actually happens as I understand that a Network Rail ban is in operation in some parts of the country.

w124bob
Back to July 1980 and 37143 is at Mantle Lane, Coalville on the Doncaster area ballast. The train ran(from memory) Mon to Fri and is departing for Cliffe Hill after waiting for the Cliffe Hill, Hayes Tarmac train to clear the loading point. This loco must have been one of the early examples to have the buffer skirts cut away and headcode plated over. It also finished up on it's side in the river Ebbw in 1975, I think it was recovered by dragging back up the embankment by several locos, including D1200. I'm sure someone knows more.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted July 22, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2018 On Thursday, 19th, July, I was in Scarborough, and when I went on the station, I saw this 37, 37706, at the rear of the Scarborough Spa Express. I’m guessing it is present owing to the very hot and dry weather. I took the following three photo’s, and I hope you will enjoy them. Best regards, Rob.

Dave Hi Dave I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out! I don't know the answer, I'm afraid. Here's the extreme edge of the negative which might be a clue. Any takers?
