All tiled  out, but do I tile that dome, or just leave it as is ?

All gaps will be forgiven I'm sure when they are all hidden under the ridge tiles !

That dome. Made up by glueing formers to a base then filling in between with polyfilla.

Cheers.

Allan.

I don't think tiles would look right on it, I think a metal sheet of some sort as Bill & Ian have suggested. I think these days it would be made from steel but for your model? If I had to guess, I'd say timber beams with either tar on canvas or lead sheet on top depending on the size and importance of the building.

Having admired your tudor work I had never really considered the amount of work you had to do to get it sorted.......the air must turn blue if you miscut!!! (I hope you can glue it back and paint it black if that ever happens) That is some serious work...very impressive. You must go through some blades to get such good lines.

Hi Jaz.

Yes I do, but  positevely the best  Stanley knife blades money can buy are Draper and, ironically, the worst, and dearest you can buy, are Stanley's own - absolute rubbish that loose the point on the first heavy cut - get 100 Draper blades from Amazon for about a fiver.

Tonight's picture- I'll have it finished tomorrow then make a start on the adjoining buildings - less complicated but more bays, more studwork.

Then just for the hell of it, I'll finish it off with a few freelance buildings - then you'll see some speed, no prototypes to dictate the terms !

Cheers.

Allan.

so i have calculated that you have used around 30,000 blades for this build. You must have - there is so much cutting!

That equals £1500.

Buy a laser cutter.

Close Pete, thirty thousand and one actually.

You buy a laser.

Or a sheet of brickpaper.

Cheers.

Smokin' !

No daft angles, no domes that wouldn't fit, no stupid steps that wouldn't fit either - watch this get chucked together tonight !

Unless the missus wants to go out...She's been chasing a fly all day and two cans of fly spray later it's still here ! ( problem is, so's she.. I  never said that, OK ? and you never read it .)

Cheers.

Allan.

Not quite finished this section of the proposed diorama yet and I reckon there's as much to do again but I won't be doing much, if anything, tomorrow cos MR are coming up to do what a man's gotta do for this supplement thing.

Anyway, and apart from one almighty blitz in the 'workshop', here's as far as I got to day and I promise next time you see it the dome will be wearing a weather vain !

And wait 'till you see the windows I've got  lined up - bootiful !

Cheers.

Allan.
