RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted January 28, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 28, 2023 Glad to see the 175s seem to be still in use. Probably on the day I was travelling the strikes were disrupting diagrams and anything available was being used. Jonathan

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 30, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 30, 2023 (edited) This afternoon me and my dad went too london for a tour on a routemaster with Sir Peter hendy at the wheel and Tim Dunn giving a commentary on various landmarks we passed along the way set off from crewe, 197 in the bay 97 waiting to head south Not a good pic but 37688 shunting a black five and sir Nigel gresley Pride Pendolino We then caught the Elizabeth line from Tottenham Court Road to paddington Paddington And on to the bus. Sir Peter was telling us this is his friends bus and is the first production routemaster Tim Dunn issuing tickets from Sir Peters own vintage ticket machine Front seats downstairs Ticket trouble! Book of Mormon theatre London eye Sir Peter Hendy who had given his bus and driving services free of charge for the evening as the money raised from ticket sales was all going to charity A brief stop on embankment St Paul’s Tower Bridge That was about it for pics, we finished at King’s Cross but had to hot it foot it to euston for our train home, should be back for 10 hopefully! RMweb Gold Nick C Posted January 30, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2023 RM5 is indeed the first production Routemaster, as 1-4 were prototypes. The Internet says she's still got an AEC engine too (a lot of them had modern Scania ones fitted for better economy), so presumably sounded good!

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted February 2, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 2, 2023 Interesting one last night, should have been small Heath to crewe, t had to taxi all the way from crewe due to the strikes only to pull through the gate and get a phone call, can I go to hindlow to work a train from there! Shunted the train into small heath first so they could continue unloading and went to bescot to collect a hire car to drive to hindlow! 70 miles later and into the train ready to work it back to crewe Had to divert on the way back as I don’t sign guide bridge so had to go via altrincham, pulled into crewe ready to go home and discovered the train I got off in small heath was stuck in Bescot as the driver they got in last minute didn’t sign cannock chase, I didn’t even spot on the schedule that it was going that way myself so am east oversight but because of that I then went in a hire car down to bescot and worked it back north to crewe! as a trade off for helping they have covered the start of my job tonight and I’ve just got to go to bescot to work it over the chase line to crewe as it’s the Sam driver as yesterday doing it who doesn’t sign it 34

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted February 3, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 3, 2023 After the exciting taxi journey it was a nice simple bescot to crewe job bescot and crewe, basford hall seems to have had new lights installed and it’s brilliant for night time pics now, the yellow tungsten glow has gone and it’s now bright white leamington to crewe tomorrow then taxi to peak forest to conduct someone back to crewe, amazing how I don’t see peak forest or Hindlow for months then go three times in a week unplanned!

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted February 5, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 5, 2023 Crewe to Iport yesterday crewe, 66765 tonight Had to sit at Roberts road for an hour and a half while a possession was lifted! RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted February 6, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 6, 2023 Some from bescot this morning, worked 6X69 from there to landor st, took me longer to drive there than do the job itself! 66773 08 EWS 66 66768 on my train And 66728 on the rear Stoke to Swinton then back to walsall for one to stockport tonight!
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted February 7, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 7, 2023 First part of my job cancelled tonight so a nice short landor st to stockport trip not easy to see but the PIS in crewe still has virgin trains on the matrix! Northern 331, unusually in one of the south facing bays Landor st A stop in Stoke to let a late running XC pass And into stockport first bit cancelled tomorrow too but got a landor st to crewe to do first then back there to do this train again
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted February 8, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted February 8, 2023 Back to it yesterday, landor st to crewe first, got to the station a bit earlier than planned and glad I did! as I drove to the station I noticed the LSL scotrail push pull set on the bridge toward Chester. Had a look in the maps and saw it was signalled out toward Chester on its test run, got to the station and grabbed a coffee and noticed the set in platform 12, apparently it had an issue on its test run and had to return to the depot DBSO 47712 A couple of minutes later the black TFW 67 came in, looking much better now it a a bit mucky! Mk4 set with DVT Then a pair of 90s came in including one that was painted to match the MK4s when a grand central service to Blackpool was planned which never started due to covid etc And a pair of C2C 720s to complete the mad 5 minutes! 47712 departing for the depot after that it was off to bescot (was originally supposed to be landor st) for the first train to crewe 66738 Into basford hall we then went back to landor st to work another train to stockport like last night but I couldn’t be bothered with pics! tomorrow is a rail drop at princes Risborough running out of bescot, I’ve got to go all the way to west ruislip to change ends though! 36
dunwurken
The Scotrail push pull set brought back the memories however I only recall one first class coach per set despite on a daily basis great numbers of the Scottish legal profession travelling daily to court in Glasgow or Edinburgh. Given that it was the legal profession it was probably all they needed, as most of them were travelling second class and putting in for first class on their expenses.🙂 Edited February 8, 2023 by Tankerman corrected the grammar.
