RMweb Gold big jim Posted July 30, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 30, 2021 Joking apart my stepdad went to Liverpool in business back in the late 90s, parked at the liver building and went to his meeting and his fiesta van got stolen and was found on bricks in toxteth having had its alloys nicked! 2

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted August 2, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 2, 2021 Some from today, bescot to east mids gateway and back to crewe bescot East Midlands gateway as I had a bit of time to kill I went for a walk along the footpath and bridle way that runs around the perimeter of the site first bit is a bit daunting though! but worth it for the view from the top I then carried on toward castle Donnington and the main terminal in the opposite side of the runway couple of fire tenders doing training by the looks of it And back to the top of the hill, when I first walked up it 6 weeks ago I was knackered and had to have a breather part way up, today I breezed up it (honest!) In the end I walked 4.5 miles, amazing just how far it is around one edge of the airport, tomorrow I’m going to run it as I’ve got my running gear ready to put on as soon as the train comes to a stop! and back into crewe 32

RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 2, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2021 I’ll get a photo of the path up other side of the hill tomorrow if I get a chance, that’s equally as bonkers!
Popular Post Jack374
Great pics Jim…I’ve never explored the paths around there as there’s no record of them to my knowledge, OS hasn’t updated and satellite still shows it being built! Well, I turned up some 30 mins early after seeing you sat at the departure peg, but when I got halfway along the track the unmistakable brake release and notch up meant a quick scramble to get the cameras out! I’ll have to try Stenson next time as you sat there almost to time! Doh Might try again later. Jack.

The Swiss demonstrate this frequently with their adhesion railways! Basic principle of physics!

Couple for the canal fans bunbury staircase locks beeston forgate clock 158 passing over the roodee viaduct driven under here many times but never been over it! and the ride back, charging the bike up! it was then back to the station to get the train to Birmingham, colas 37s on a test train rolling into platform 1 196s tonight and tomorrow

RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted August 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 4, 2021 So you could charge your bike on the train. Interesting. I hope the power you were taking didn't slow it down too much. Nice canal photos. We used to take holidays on canals when the children were home, but for some reason stopped when they left - I suppose we needed them as crew in the locks etc. Jonathan

Agreed, if it was built for wheeled access, but as it is steps and clearly only for legged use, they might aswell have gone up in a straight flight....... RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted August 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 5, 2021 My wife would hate them. She is happy going down quite steep slopes but hates steps. I hope structures like that don't start springing up on the Severn Way etc. or the coastal paths where I know there has been pressure from the disabled lobby. While I have sympathy it would destroy what they were there to see. Jonathan

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted August 10, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted August 10, 2021 Some from yesterday, bescot to East Midlands gateway bescot loco for the day East mids gateway Went for a walk again (4 miles) this is the other side of those hill and the steps in that side, it’s actually got 2 sets like this heading off in different directions From the top it goes about 1/3 of the way down before splitting View from the top We ran early and ended up sitting at alrewas until Lichfield accepted us so I went for a walk to the signal box and had a chat with the signaller before heading back to the loco ,sat there for 2 hours! alrewas box And back to the train, pleased with this picture! Passed the railvac in Lichfield with a pair of 20s top and tail that’s me done for a couple of weeks now, at the caravan now and having a well earned break (unless an uncovered job from Carlisle pops up!)
