It's also rather reminiscent of the XPT light arrangement. Now that would be a livery to truly irk some purists... RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted October 31, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 31, 2020 Train looks very nice, clean and shiny from the outside. Wonder how comfortable it is inside.
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted October 31, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 31, 2020 Some from today, IM train from crewe to derby via leicester first stop stafford then right through to East Midlands parkway Then after a while we headed to derby, sat outside the RTC for a while where there was a pair of GBRf 66s top and tail on a UTU train waiting to go out on a test run to toton EMR class 180 Into the station 37175 at the other end Meridian passing the RTC I then got a train home, changing at tamworth where the pride Pendolino passed through RHTT tomorrow
RPNaylor0301
EMR livery really suits that 180 - doesn’t look like a train approaching 20!
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 1, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 1, 2020 Some from today, RHTT train kings norton Rugby Stafford then annoying on a Sunday you take it to nuneaton where it pulls in at exactly the same time as my train home so I have an hours wait for the next one! And a vid of it departing, notice how the driver flicks the switch to stop the lead loco powering up for a nice quiet journey, you can do that when in multi and the isolation switches in the correct positions in both locos and an unusual sight while waiting to get home, XC voyager en route to Manchester, due to engineering work at Stafford they have been leaving new st via water orton to nuneaton and changing ends in Nuneaton to get north and vice versa to get to Birmingham manchester bound service crossing with a reading service which had come in via the wcml from manchester and was heading back towards water orton and new st

I’ve seen lead locos powering and rear locos idling before (usually when not in multi) but rarely vice versa. I did see a DRS 37/20 combo like you describe once but think the lead loco was low on power. Is it advisable to do that when in multi on non-RHTT trips? I imagine the rear loco will go through more fuel if it 'pushes' all the time, but as the RHTT changes direction so much I imagine the difference between the locos is negligible. Yesterday I actually went to Spondon to see you and waited for a good while but you were held at East Mids Parkway for ages and I had a doctor's appointment! I’ll try again next time you’re over this way. Jack.
RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 1, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2020 There was a failed HST blocking Nottingham Mansfield jn so I offered to go and rescue it with my 37 on Saturday, he held me at east mids for a bit just incase he needed me but it got sorted! you will find IM trains don’t tend to run that early into derby on a Saturday as there are so many trains arriving Onto the RTC they have to hold them to order around the derby area, I’ve sat for 3 hours in sunnyhill loop before now 7 1

RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted November 3, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 3, 2020 Bahamas needs a duty on the RHTT. That is an impressively shiny train. Almost up to model standards. Seriously, what interested me was how flat the tender side was. I would have expected more ripples in the steel metal. Jonathan
RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted November 3, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 3, 2020 I passed Bahamas this morning on my way towards Northampton this morning I wondered why there was so many enthusiasts on the platform at Rugby some even took a pic of me arriving into platform 6 at Rugby.
