RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted June 21, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 21, 2018 (edited) Some from last night, site driver in the north east, rail drop on the ‘Blythe and Tyne’ line north of Newcastle Met the train in Newcastle central station And to site at bebside, this is after the dripnand waiting for my relief so I could go back to the hotel It never actually got dark last night! Then I drove back today, did a circuitous route though Stopped in shilton Now this I like! Then off I went via Barnard castle towards brough, Kirby Stephen, ais Gill, hawes and ended up here Then I headed off from there to settle for a cup of tea with newbryford and onward Home via citheroe Possibly going to be the last opportunity for me to have a gentle trundle back from a lodge turn just enjoying the scenery! Alcanman
Great pics at Bebside, and nice to see a 56 on the line. Hope you enjoyed the summer solstice on the Blyth & Tyne. Yes, it didn't seem to get dark last night.
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted June 22, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 22, 2018 Thanks for the pics of Ribblehead Jim. As I am now exiled in France but grew up in Settle they brought back some good memories. Jamie

St. Simon
Sneaky little signal on the through loop Hi Jim, I find this image very interesting, two questions, is the position light off in this photo? and can it show 'On' as I can't see the third aperture, only the two 45 degree ones? Simon
RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 22, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2018 If you look closely the main aspect behind the indicator is showing a yellow That’s why it’s a sneaky little signal, obviously from the train on the through it’s far easier to see

RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted June 22, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2018 I see, I completely missed the main aspect, thanks Jim Simon You don’t get out enough Simon! ;-oThere’s also another ground mounted main aspect at the far end of the through loop with no friend on the platform line. The platform line signal is round the corner right at the end of the platform. (Bottom of ramp from memory and (I think) also applies to the through line.) Paul. RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 22, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2018 thats correct, you can see it in the distance but as you say the platform end one is the next one and that applies to both lines
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted June 23, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 23, 2018 (edited) Some from last night, UTU recovery run from banbury to Didcot with the train going transit from crewe diesel depot First job is prep the loco, incase anyone hasn’t seen inside a 37/6 before this the door I need to get through to get to the engine, anyone who knows be will know I’m not exactly small in the middle area but I can fit through this door with will power, it’s only about 12-15 inch wide! And the side of the engine to check the turbos, overspeed lever and water, oil on the other side The loco itself Into crewe station loop Sparkly dbso This caught me by surprise, class 90 dragging a 66 and 2 class 59s Then it was a non stop run to banbury via the wcml to nuneaton, Coventry and Leamington spa Had to wait there as a ballast behind would have caught me by the time I got to oxford so the signaller let it go first, absolute beast of a loco I’m rather hoping that when I start with GBRf I get to have a go of it! And these, not driven a 20 since DRS And away I went to Didcot And back to derby, chadd curve before heading back to the RTC That was that, GBRf medical Monday Edited June 23, 2018 by big jim
RMweb Gold CovDriver Posted June 23, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 23, 2018 So that was you giving it some at Coventry I was in booking point as you departed Coventry sounded very nice indeed. Good luck with the medical for GBRf. Cheers Colin
RMweb Premium Steadfast Posted June 23, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 23, 2018 Good luck Monday Jim! 59003 has been glued to the Westbury bulk ballast for the last few weeks, apparently it'll be on it for a while. Much nicer than a 66! I knew a few of our 59s were out at the mo, didn't realise they'd gone to Crewe! The silver one must be 001 Jo
