andyram
Hi Jim Just caught up on your thread. I have loved the pictures from around Fort William. My wife and I spent our honeymoon up there. The first day was spent on the Jacobite wth 45321. Your pictures of Glenfinnan Viaduct are stunning.

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted October 31, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 31, 2016 some from today, calibration runs at old dalby, as i gave myself plenty of time to get there i managed to photograph my train passing through Cossington and again in Melton Mowbray 37099 with 8 coaches, basically 2 UTU trains combined Cossington, strange thing happened there a spotter asked if i was jim, he watches this thread and enjoys my pics but isnt a member on here, so woever you were, hello again! Melton Mowbray, where a bloke videoing the train also asked if i was jim, beginning to think the ghost of jeremy beadle was about trying to prank me by having someone know me everywhere i went do many meridians go through Melton? 37099 coming out of the sidings, wrong direction throught he station to access the test track shunt disc showing UM to carry along the up main and away until i caught up with it again at the north end of the test track no pics from the "sensitive" part of the track, a 345 unit was on test, a very impressive looking unit indeed couple from an op stop though grab it while you can in blue! got one of the other split headcode 37s tomorrow, 025 this time

RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted October 31, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2016 Nice to see 37099 is still going strong! Back in January 1985 I went on a rail tour from St.Pancras to Cornwall via Birmingham and 099 featured, paired up with one of the local tractors (207) to top and tail on the Parkandillack and Fowey branches. I think she was a March loco then and was sent west to provide a bit of heat.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted October 31, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) grab it while you can in blue! jamesg
Thanks for posting these photographs, I've been following the thread and enjoy seeing the great variety of places and locomotives. Interesting to see 56302 at Derby - it was on the RHTT based at Gloucester for a couple of weeks and not looking nearly as clean as it does now. rockershovel
Since it has been mentioned, how does a "lodging turn" work? I travel a great deal and as a rule of thumb, oil and gas jobs it is all booked for me, usually (though not always) on account, civils and onshore pipeline jobs I am usually, pretty much left to my own devices with a fixed sum "in lieu", windfarm work varies but usually "flat rate" at my cost with no arrangements. RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 7, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2016 quite simple, hotel booked by work, do the job, go to hotel, have a sleep, work a train the next day or travel home
