Jim’s “out and about with GBRf” thread

Recommended Posts

We've a resident Class 37 back in Wales this afternoon, 0Z37 Derby to Cardiff Canton running over two hours late.

No idea why it's here though, anyone care to take a stab at the reason ?

Collecting something from Canton; isn't that where Colas's stock is nominally based, and where they do wheel-turning?

Hi Jim,

Great shots of your trip around my neck of the woods, had i known it was you id have probably made the effort to go out for it!

I think i may have seen you on Monday as well with the Banbury to Bescot as you passed Warwick Parkway whilst i was waiting for 1H04 to take me to work.

Fantastic photos as always Jim! Good to see 37608 and 37611 still out and about.

What is the arrangement with these two? They are ex DRS now Europhenix. Am I right in thinking that Europhenix are hiring them to Colas for use on the test trains? So Europhenix own them and Colas are hiring them? In fact are they hired or are they leased? Leased would be a bit more of a permanent thing which would seem correct seen as though test trains operate on a regular basis.

Thank you in advance.

slight change of plan today, a DBSO test run instead of the logs, be rude not to really

first move of the day was 37601 into the yard from the station which i promptly managed to smash the side window on, opened it to let some fresh air in and it dropped all the way down and shattered, a good start to the day!

then onto the move, 37611 and DBSO to loughborough

derby

and back to derby

walked back to the station where there were some gbrf 20s in the sidings, 4 different liveries

47812 passed through too, not the best pic as it was into the sun, 37800 was also there but we passed that at trent jn on the way back

back to the logs tomorrow

Didn't see you but probably heard you. I was in John Ellis house all day (the bit of the original station building on Platform 1). If I had taken a photo of the 20s I could have played SNAP!

unusual unit in derby, a northern 158 heading towards nottingham, all i can think is the erewash between chesterfield and trowell jn must have been shut

I think there's a one off diagram for a Northern 158 routed via Derby - early in the day according to my XC man. (I have a Northern 158 for the DL layout)

Cheers,

Mick

Southbound 05:45; northbound 21:10. I assume for route knowledge retention.

that one was in the middle of the day, there is also an early northern one through toton that goes via beeston then takes the attenborough chord and through the slows at toton to trowell jn

Just found this thread and thoroughly enjoyed flicking through over lunch!

Great to see proper locos out on the network still and fantastic photos - really atmospheric, particularly the ones at night when the stations are quiet.

Thanks for sharing and keep it up!
