Does it allow you to select what the auto-focus picks on Jim?  You might have changed that setting possibly?

i think thats the problem, the focus point moves around rather than being in the centre, if you look at some of the pics the focus is a couple of wagons back rather than the front of a train, i think maybe the bright headlights on some locos dont help either

Got this off ebay for a couple of quid for the sony camera, a selfie monopod....

That extends to about 1M

And the head swivels, notice there is also a screw hole in the handle for attaching to a tripod, so that combined with the tripod ahould get me some nice new angles on shots, obviously not to be used near ohle!!

Got a few bits and bobs for the sony camera, first up a nice hi-viz protective cover and secondly a charity shop bargain of a nice lightweight hama tripod for £8

So combining the tripod and selfie stick i can now reach up quite high for pics!!

This is what i got with it, it reaches up about 3m i recon

Looking forward to trying it out and about

The photos are really crisp the new camera was well worth buying.

its not a patch on the proper camera considering its 18mp but i'm pleased with the shots, just need to update the firmware in it, (roundhouse says it improves lens control), going to be interesting to have a play with it on the layout too, especially in video mode, may try and do that this week sometime

Jim

I have just uploaded a video taken with it on Banbury. Depth of field isnt quite good enough for the smaller scale but I suspect most video cams will struggle.

I have more stills taken on it to upload though.

Dunno why but I’ve always preferred photos of the “Railways” where the camera is on the same level as the driver.

Bit bloody harder over here.....still doable with that camera, however.

I managed to pick up a copy of “BackTrack" yesterday and realized that over 90% of the photos were/are from front ¾ views. I’m don’t know what the answer is to that conundrum, though!

Thanks for all your photos, Jim.

Best, Pete.

The pictures using both extensions sure give a different perspective you don't normally get unless stood on a bridge showing roof detail etc.

if you didn't know you had both mountings in use one would say a cherrypicker was used or someone taped you to underside of the bridge lol.
