RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted September 26, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2018 Whilst boat painting on the marina yesterday there were some interesting movements of the King. She was first observed chimney first, then tender first and then double heading with 7827 all in one day! I can only assume that 7827 was on a running-in turn and that 6023 was turned for the returning home journey...but no she was in service today....! ...and finally...!
RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted September 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2018 I bet that pair sounds good heading up the line. Regards, Nick.
brianusa
It seems almost a sin to run a King in reverse on a passenger turn! Brian.
RMweb Premium rab Posted September 26, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2018 It seems almost a sin to run a King in reverse on a passenger turn! Brian. I totally agree Brian, but I guess if it's a choice between tender first running and not running at all we have to accept it.

RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted September 30, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 30, 2018 6023 made a spectacular sound leaving Greenway Halt pulling up Churston Bank! A run to Kingswear prior to the 12 coach 'test' train. The 12 coach train running in after detaching 6023 at Hoodown. Right up to the station stops.
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted October 9, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 9, 2018 (edited) A film of 6023 on the eleven coach test train plus a 'ticking over' 25 at the rear. It was departing Greenway Halt passing under the Kennel Lane bridge just down the line from Churston Station. mdvle
In addition to apparently a class 37 replacing the class 25 the Dartmouth Steam Railway has a colourful December planned for this year: News story: https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/world-first-christmas-light-train-2109545?fbclid=IwAR3bnXEbCgOIapxfj4XOyGztRveUTs5b36TVVgPaJcfER5tVBFFsIyESOQo Official website with dates and times: https://www.dsrrbchristmas.co.uk/train-of-lights

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted February 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2019 The P & D have bought 4110 off the WSR and here she is arriving at Churston this week. After an overhaul she will join the roster. An option to attend the WSR as a visiting loco at one of their galas has been agreed. 7 1
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted March 3, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 3, 2019 A little bird tells me another Manor will be visiting this line for the summer season. 7820 Dinmore Manor and will work in tandem with Lydham. RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted March 3, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 3, 2019 In which livery they were when I first saw them.As built by BR ? Maybe the later examples.BR black reminded one of Henry Ford’s edict on his Model T.Then they mutated to green as did Gresley’s V2 in the mid 1950’s and almost every WR loco until the great cull of the early 1960’s by the general manager whose name is still uttered with loathing to this day.

RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted August 7, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 7, 2019 We travelled on the DSR to Churston for the Torbay steam fair, which as usual was an excellent show with fine food and some unusual ciders! There was a 45mins delay at KW due to a fire in up in Longdown Woods at which the railway fire train was in attendance. A few snaps of the day. Fire train. 4110 bought from the WSR Greenway Halt
